I have felt really tired this week. Work has been busy and in addition to being a night-owl ๐ฆwho goes to bed too late and rises too early, I have not slept well either!๐ด Anyway, weekend long run day today, so I had to call on that discipline to drag myself out of bed for an early breakfast prior to my planned 13k. The local countryside and bridleways were beautiful as ever and lots of people seemed to be out and about in the autumn sunshine - cyclists, dog walkers and lots of runners. As runs go, some parts were good, some parts were a bit tough ๐ฆ but I upped my distance to 16k as I thought it would allow me to then fit in one more full 10 miler before the GSR next month. The last couple of miles were run on very tired legs (I think the week caught up with me) but running is a sport where a little bit of stubborness helps, I think! Surprisingly, I ran the distance a little quicker than the last one a few weeks back so happy with that. Happy running this weekend.๐

A tough 10 miles...but a job well done!
Well done Sandra, 10 miles done on a Saturday morning. Now you can relax for the rest of the weekend. Not long to the GSR now..... what time did you do today compared to the GSR last year?
Thanks Dexy. A tiny bit slower (less than a minute) on last year's race day result but up on where I was with my training this time last year. I am hoping to be a bit faster on the day๐ฎ๐ค....although, do you know what? I just want to complete it happily and injury free! My route today was harder than the GSR course but of course, there is also the potential wind in Portsmouth! I have been lucky on my previous two GSR's not to have the famous headwind down towards the finish!๐ค
Yes we had the lovely easterly breeze at parkrun this morning but that is quite unusual.
Iโm with you on โjust want to be able to do itโ. I am hoping to reach 10 mile for the first time this week but it will depend on the conditions.
Perfect Sandra! GSR isnโt too far away now, so itโs good to know where you are time-wise. ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐
Well done Sandra!๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐
Stubbornness definitely helps! ๐๐ป๐คฃ
Well done in spite of the tiredness ๐ช๐ป
Yes, discipline is well worth obtaining. Well done to you! I'm often a too late to bed and rise too early person as well. Your run sounds seriously impressive. Very well done! ๐
Nice! Way to add a few more k in. Stubbornness helps for sure.
Great job Sandra. You are well set for the GSR now even though it was a tough one.
Well done on running so far, and improving on your time! It sounds like a lovely run. Most of my long runs are done on discipline alone.
Well done Sandra you are right on track ๐xxx
Thanks aliboo - hope your running is going well too?๐
I feel like I've been a bit slack this year, not as motivated though have been going on quite a few club runs. Am better on the hills than I used to be especially loving trail running at mo๐
Have a North to South (I.O. W) race /run on Sat way over my longest distance going to walk /run;there are 4pub stops on way. It's supposed to be great fun.(19 miles tho, eek! ! ) ๐๐xxx
That picture needs to go on the C25K forum home page!
Well done on your run. I am doing the GSR too. I am curious why you will only be doing one more 10 miler between now and then?
I guess we all do different weekly mileages Whatsapp. Am sort of following what I did for the other GSR's I have run. Weekend runs are 'long' runs for me - and there's only 4 left before GSR. I will drop down to 10k this weekend, then up to 13k, 10 miles and down to a 10k trail race the weekend before. Think if I ran 10 miles every weekend I would have very tired legs on the day, personally! Also, I am running with a slightly niggly knee, so overtraining would be unwise. I will have upped by mileage to run the full 10 miles three times before the day. Curious to your own plan now?!!
Good luck too btw!๐๐
Thanks Sandra. Always interesting to see others' approaches. I usually tend towards training under the full distance for HMs. To avoid overtraining and to have something left for the day.
This time however, x2 6km midweek with a long run Sunday. Over the next 4 weeks I plan it to be 14km/14km/17km/17km.
Just to try something different.
