Well update on my last post. It was too late to change my mind about the marathon as the transfer from the marathon to the 10 mile race had already been completed. I am also too late to get a refund for the Brighton marathon. I can defer up until the 16th April but I could transfer to the 10K. The latter is possible but it seems a lot of money to spend to travel and stay in Brighton to do a 10K however not sure if I want to defer as I am not sure if I want to do a marathon at all. Going to think about it whilst I am away on holiday.

Go for it?
Me, I'm running the HM this weekend and realistically have little chance of "doing well".
However - that will be an experience in itself. I certainly will be starting with hardly any expectations except - hopefully lol - making it to at least the "minimum acceptable 5k" distance
So - it will be "purely for the running" this time around No thoughts of finishing, what time, PB (😂), "Will I measure up" etc.
It's not defeatism, it's just accepting I couldn't get the proper training done, not my fault, nothing to be done about it so just going to go with it
A very new feeling prior to an event for me! I'm kind of excited to see what happens on the day
Wishing you well with your approach ❤️
go with your feelings and do what you want
this is a hobby, so it's ok if it pushes you but not ok if it makes you dread it
Oh I’m sad you’re not doing it now but the 10 miler will be great too 👍🏽
I have recently had an email from the Yorkshire Marathon organisers saying that my marathon entry is still active so I can start the marathon on the day but depending on my time at the 5mlle point I could swap to the 10 mile race. They are leaving it up to me but I need to let them know so that they can ensure they have the correct support in place
Oh right. Does everyone set off together then?
No think that the marathon goes first but the first 5mlles of the route are the same for both marathon and the 10 mile race. I wasn't happy with their estimate of my finishing time but agreed to the 10 mile race on haste. I thought my marathon entry was no longer active.
