Went for a run this morning just 5K broken up with breakfast at McDonald's. It gave me time to think. I have sent an email to the organisers of the Yorkshire Marathon to see if it is not too late to change my mind about the 10 mile race. I have put a lot of time and effort into training up to 18miles and would rather have a go at the marathon. If I don't get to the point where it is not possible to move onto the pavements because there aren't any and no lighting before it gets dark then I will stop but at least I will have had a go. If it's too late to change my mind then I will do the 10mile and enjoy it. Feel at peace now I have made this decision.
I have decided to withdraw from the Brighton marathon in April and have sent an email. Will know next week. If and only if it is not too late to change back to the marathon I don't want to do a marathon again even if I don't finish.
All supposition atm.

Because of my timing's for the 16miles and 18miles the Yorkshire Marathon organisers said I would take 10+hours to finish the marathon and part of the course is rural with no pavements to move to and no street lighting so they were concerned about my safety as they would have to reopen the roads so suggested the 10mile race.
I agreed partly in shock and partly in disappointment at their assumption but also because I had already paid for and got the train tickets to York and booked accommodation. I have since changed my mind and emailed them to see if it is too late to change my mind as they may have already transferred my entry over to the 10 mile race.
The rest seems to be working Pippa. Got back up to a normal pace yesterday. Then my calf started to pull 🙄 Got physio coming up 👍🏽 Sometimes I wonder why we bother trying to be healthy 🤣 Thanks Pippa.
You're welcome. I am not hopeful that I will be able to change back to the marathon but if not then I will do the 10mile and enjoy it. I get to run on part of the marathon route. I've been given complimentary entry for next year so feel a bit ungrateful as I may not want to do it next year.
Having got up to 18 miles in training is an amazing accomplishment, no matter how this story ends. I've never run that far in training, although I know I'll have to do it at some point. Having had my own nightmare long event back in May, I'm utterly in awe of anyone who has the willpower to pound the streets for as long as you do. I hope things work out for you.
