What a great day! This was my second Monsal run. I ran the Half Marathon last year and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to come again to run the 10k. I love this event because it's a small, relaxed, no frills event along a lovely countryside route.
This year it felt like a family fun day as 7 of my local running friends came along too (we made a weekend of it). The icing on the cake though was meeting so many HU buddies; friends who have provided information and encouragement since I joined in 2019, through either sharing their own journey on HU or Strava, or commenting on my posts. I am so appreciative.
Anyway, I had just collected my t shirt before the run when a voice behind me said "don't I know know you?" Yes! it was GTFC and Tasha. Linda, Dexy, UTS, Cheeky, Shakes, Tailchaser and Katnap were in the crowd too. I have met BBR, Sandie and Lexi before and it was so good to say hello to them again. I was so excited I didn't even think about a warm up run or a last trip to the loo!
As others have said it was a lovely sunny morning and fun to wave and shout encouragement to each other along the route and cheer at finish line. As it's a flat route (well a very slight upward incline on the way out and down on the return) it's a good route for a PB. My Strava awarded me a 10k PB of 1:01:26, which unfortunately wasn't matched by my chip time which was 1:02:53. Maybe I'll try again next year!
