I was having serious doubts about the run this weekend because of the UK heatwave (it was feeling like 20 when I was out there at 8.10am), but I knew I wanted to try for the distance ahead of a cut back week next week, so I can continue grow distance to about 11.5 or 12 miles ahead of Sept 29th. I vowed to take it incredibly slow and steady especially in this heat and off I went!
Really lovely day for it as well, there were several groups of runners and other solo runners doing the HM route, we all waved to each other and smiled which was actually really encouraging. Cut 2 mins off my 10k time from last week as well, which is nice.
Then at 9.7k I (slightly TMI) became DESPERATE for a wee. And I was in Ealings most residential area with no bushes to hide behind or open shops. I soldiered on to 10k, and by 11k I was walking so slowly looking at google maps for any sign of life lol! It was at 11.2k where I saw a friendly barbers who let me use his bathroom.
Unsurprisingly, felt MUCH better after that and carried on to just over the full 10 miles. It did become quite difficult toward the end and I really had to dig deep, but I did it and the week after next I can try for a slightly faster time.
One more, super important, thing is.. please can I have my 10miles badge?! π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³
Now off to shower, get changed and head to White Heart Lane to watch Spurs! What a great Sunday. Have lovely bank holidays everyone, whatever you do.
