Set off just after 8am. Chose a route with plenty of options to cut it short if needed. 150 metres in - glute hurt but knew I had to keep going to get my 3rd run of the week in even if I did one mile (I’ve run 3 times a week minimum since starting c25k) so decided I’d try to do 5k. Glute loosened up a bit so decided I could maybe do 10k. But maybe the glute is causing the high heart rate issues I’m having? Wished I hadn’t posted 10 miles post the other day. Thought I could perhaps delete it when I get home. Hmmm. People would notice. At 8k I decided I could do 10 miles since I was half way now. The glute wasn’t getting any worse and I was going slow. Very slow. Got to 12k. Heart rate went to 195 but I felt fine and was going slow. Is settled back down. Weird. I’m now starting to doubt my watch’s accuracy. Even in 5k pb it only goes to 175. Only 9k more would get me to a half. May as well. Took the emergency gel I’d brought just in case at 14k and plodded on. Half marathon done ✅ Slowest ever HM but still it’s done. I thought of you all on the way around, those of you running today and all those words of encouragement. It really helped me to keep going. Maybe I’ll find my mojo soon 🤔😍

10 miles accountable post - update
FANTASTIC TASHA !!! 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
I have been both waiting and expecting this victory post , well done 😬
Why thank you! 🤣 you spurred me on 😊
Thank you ! 😬
Strange what you say about HR, I have had a couple of times now when I didn't believe my Garmin , and one was on my run yesterday , and later I noticed it was not changing , I restarted my watch and re positioned it on my wrist to now find 30 BPM less 😂
I did restart it last night actually but it didn’t make a difference 😢
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
Well done you!! Quality shines you know. Even if you don't feel it or see it, it's still there and today it showed 🙂
Rest up now and be kind to yourself. It does seem maybe there's a fault somehow with the recording of your heart rate. Most importantly, how you feel on the run is the best gauge and today you should feel awesome 😀😀😀😀😀.I did 11 nice and steady.
Massive well done to you too 😊
I’m not sure what to do with my watch. Seeing a sky high heart rate all the time is very demotivating indeed. Most of my runs are 150-170 these days which is way higher than before. I’m going to sort my diet out, try and run more, hydrate better, and see if that helps it. It’s like banging my head against a brick wall. Although my ongoing glute issue could be a cause of it. I think 195 bpm was an error for sure!
Absolutely! Yes, don't let it cloud how you feel on a run.
Delly Dot and Sask Allie cat did a great post about HRR so I changed my settings to resting HR 53 and highest 181 (the highest I could find on a sprint run) and this changed my boundaries. Well done though. To knock out a HM is an awesome thing still!! We forget this as we've gone much further!
True grit Tasha!! Proud of you. So much harder when you are not feeling it. Dicky glute is a pain in the butt 🙂; but it was never going to stop you. Just awesome 👏👏👏👏👏🥂
Woohoo Tasha!👍🏻👏👏🎉🎉😄 Very well done indeed! That’s a HM of determination & running discipline - which takes much more grit than those happy, joyous runs! 💪🏻👍🏻😄
I often use the psychology of routes giving distance options & it has helped me to keep going many a time. - Great route along the river, Mr E used to run there in his lunchtime when he worked in M’bro.
Your mojo will return & you will value it all the more because you have managed without it for a while. 😘😘
Well done!!! You beat a good number of gremlins into submission today - I declare you the outright winner!
Sounds to me like you've found your mojo! A half marathon! Wow! Only 9k more! 😂
If you get a chance, Please let me know what you're doing for your glute muscles. I intermittently get this and despite bridges etc, it rears its head now and then!
Well done Tasha 💪- if that isn’t finding your Mojo, I don’t know what is?!😀
As for HR - I am considering trying to turn mine off my Garmin 45 (can we do that?) as I think it keeps locking on to my cadence. I’ve heard this can happen and looking at my runs, I am very suspicious that this is happening to me! As I only ever look at my HR out of passing curiosity after a run, I think I would be better off without stats that I can’t trust!🙂
While I can quite imagine my cadence being around 160-170, I’ve never heard of this before. I’m going to google it. It would certainly work out. How odd. You can definitely turn the hr monitor off, yes. I was doing fantastically well with low heart rate training before.
Yay, well done Tasha99 , not just 10 miles but a HM. Great stuff!
👏👏👏
Well done
That's impressive Tasha, mojo or not.
Heading out with an ache and deciding you may just run a mile and then talk yourself into plodding on and ending up with a Half Marathon!
Very well done, 3rd run of the week very much achieved 🎉👏
