Hamstring Hurrumph!

I've given myself a sore hamstring, probably by overdoing it. After Sundays long run, I did a full workout in the gym then on Monday went for a 9 mile walk. Tried a 5k recovery run this morning (which I now realise was a bad idea but, at least, it didn't get any worse).

Given that it's mild, and I'm now resting it, any ideas how long it might take to get better?

I have no idea - but you can have some sympathy from me if that helps any.

All I keep getting told with respect to healing is 'well, you're not 18 any more ...' so if you're 18 you're fine, if not ... well ... who knows ... 😂.

Sorry, probably not helpful at all 😊

Thanks for your sympathy. I can't rely on being (anything remotely close to) 18 any more, so I'm just going to have to hope that it won't be too long because it's only mild.

Not sure how long it will take to heal but try a long soak with Epsom salts.

Thanks O50k. Tried a long soak and it seems to have helped.

Plenty of stretching and give yourself a break. Your hamstring is telling you one thing - you are doing too much!

I couldn't agree more! Thankfully, it had settled down by Thursday. I took Friday off and did a short, gentle run on Saturday and it seems fine now.
