Watch trial and long run

Well, I did it and tried out my new Garmin watch on my 14km long run this weekend!

Will definitely take some getting used to and I need to start listening to it (!) i made a real effort to start out slowly but was going far too fast (for me!) as usual - my watch confirmed my pace was too fast but did I slow down? Er.

Still, it’s only the first run and so far I think it’s been a totally worthwhile purchase as I found it incredibly motivating in the later kilometres when I always feel like I’m crawling so slowly and my brain tells me to not worth ‘running’ any more at that pace to see on my watch that actually I’m still running fairly evenly... it just feels slow cos I’m tired presumably!

Week 7 of the HM plan done now - next weekend is supposed to be 10 miles, so now I’m getting anxious about that. Off to yoga now to hopefully calm my worries/wobble.

Thanks for all your advice and kind words on my last thread! Hope you’re all having a good weekend :)

Sounds great - I have an old model and tend not to use the virtual pacer but you really can't go wrong with a Garmin! Good luck with your HM training. Which one are you doing?🙂

And another Garmin fan is born! Have fun with it - hey it sounds like you already are! Fantastic! 👊👍👏😀

Come on, if I can do 10 miles, so can you. Just go out with the attitude that you’ll do it even if it kills you- that’s what I did and it nearly did 😂😂😂

Btw, I’m glad you’re finding the watch useful. I think once you do any more serious running, like training for an event, you need those stats

I’m a Garmin fan too. I have had it about 6 and am still discovering things it can do. I probably should read the instructions sometime. It does turn you into a bit of star freak though.
