Went for my long run yesterday planned 15k adding a km a week. At 14.6 had pain in lower back now can't sit for more than 15 minutes.

I am going to do something in addition to running to strengthen it I think.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your back - can you see a sports physio or chiropractor for advice? They will be able to recommend the best treatment and also suitable exercises for strengthening. Hope it settles soon.🙂

Ooh, take care. A sore back is really unpleasant. Hopefully some rest and strengthening and you'll be fine - but I agree it's definitely worth seeing a professional to try to get to the bottom of what caused it. Good luck. Speedy healing.

Done some childs pose, stink of deep heat and put pillow under my knee last night. I feel better today went for a walk not run though.

Oh dear that’s a nuisance. It might go after some rest and maybe a neurofen or ibufren at bed time for a few days.

The back muscles need to be strong enough to support our longer runs - just as our other muscles do. Yoga is really good I find. I have a beginner’s yoga dvd which has some simple moves for back pain and strengthening

Any cross training you can do is all helpful Don’t forget walking which is easy to do and free 👍😃💪😕
