Ouch

Been a bit of a niggle for a while, but last week during a very relaxed trail 10k it felt like there was a taught wire down the back of my right leg. Ached away all evening but seemingly gone the next day. Careful stretching before the run yesterday (after a 10 day break) didn’t stop it hurting again at 5 miles. This morning lots of stretching has helped but I still know it’s there. My OH tells me to book a physio appt. but that’s easier said than done at the moment! Weirdly it seems to be accompanied by the old Achilles problem. My right leg is not doing well, the left is absolutely fine!! Any ideas or advice much appreciated.

I may be lucky but I have had no problem getting a physio appointment and weekly treatment. I thought it was business as usual now....I had to wear a mask but that was about it from a patient's perspective.

My knee has been the problem through lockdown, and the physio' answer, which is working really well now, is a set of exercises which, for a large part, are not really focussed on the knee at all (hip strengthening is a big factor). So I think there are all always two questions; what is it? and what do I do to fix it? The second answer isn't always obvious. So I would find a sports physio pdq. 🙂

I agree with your OH and BC! Something that hurts like that could be about to get a whole lot worse without the right intervention. Finding out the hard way isn't a good option. Fingers crssed it's something minor which will heal quickly

Physio is probably the quickest option tbh 😀

oh and something I was told by a surgeon (and a physio), sharp pain, stop immediately. Different to muscle soreness/tiredness. You should not have sharp pains doing anything.

You are right of course. Not what I want to hear! Have you found it easy to get appointments? Some physios round here are still only doing video consultation. Odd that I can go to a dentist, the hairdresser or get a tattoo but not see a physio!

I’ve not tried in lockdown, i know my ostheo and chiropractor are open but last i knew not sports massage. They will all massage you so any you can get will be fine. Good luck!
