I have loved ball games since my school days. When involved with a ball, I was always active and busy, so I made friends with those who joined in the sport, contributed to it, grew with it. I have learnt so many skills for life from ball games, it is flexible and adaptable as nowadays we have choices of so many different ball games, to suit all ages and tastes, fitness and leisure time. Currently, I do my daily exercises by walking, playing badminton and table tennis in my home garden. Planning to buy basket ball kit for the coming spring and summer seasons, and start playing basket ball with my family and children in our home garden and taking it in the park to play with family teams. I think that physical exercise and sports is much more enjoyable and healthy when it is played with family and neighbours. The competition is much more different, there is no politics and stress involved, everybody is proud just for the good health and fitness, good social relations and enjoyment of good days.

Depends on your age Mike. I've given-up anything that involved changing direction too quickly (footie). Too much knee and ankle IC action. Still play cricket and badminton though, but diving catches don't result in the cat-like judo roll recovery like in my youth Splat more like. Running in a straight line is great though!
Hello, at my age of over 66 years and heart failure problem, I also need to be cautious when playing and sporting. I need to take rest often and take a seat while playing. Many other people may find it annoying and may show a bit of anger when I am so cool like a bird. But I think a sport can still be played well as colleagues with same problems share the new skills that they have gained. As children and youngsters we all learnt and developed our own unique skills, now in old age and circumstances we still need to gain new skills to live a life
Hello! Welcome to the forum!!!
I know we have someone on here using golf as cross training for his half marathon 😊
Golf is a good idea. A player may join the marathon and then continue with the game, he would have covered more distance, and avoid driving the electric car
I want my husband to play badminton or volleyball in the garden but he keeps finding excuses not to. So I'm going to get some cheap toy kit and play it with the kids who are coming to stay with me from tomorrow. My niece and her husband will join in as well. I have no idea how to play either but no matter. My young great nephew always asks me to play running games and footy. Only pleased I can keep up with him We go to the nearby park and he lets me have a go on his scooter on the ramp! When we do running races though he uses his bike, the cheat! LOL He is only five
I remember having seen mobile kits in one of the supermarkets, was it Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury? I don't remember -- there was a plastic pole, net, ball and a big box which showed people playing badminton, volleyball, basket ball using the same kit. I got tempted to buy it but at the time didn't carry my credit card. It was lightweight, mobile and flexible, could be used in home garden, in a living room, outside at the park, almost anywhere
I am always amused by those on golf course using electric cars!!!! -- although I have been told that many courses insist on their use???
Sure, we don't need cars or any technology such as robots on the golf course. The sport was originally invented by shepherds on the Scottish hills. It was for keeping fit with long walking and precision of ball play
