goldcoastmarathon.com.au/ I set sail for this about 20 weeks ago - have done a 10K "race" as part of the training and will do a 15K this next weekend ( it is HOT here , will be around 26C (80F) - will have to be careful. My plan tells me that I should complete it in 2 hours to be on track for a 6 hour marathon. I think it will be OK - but a lot is going to depend on this heat - and whether my right foot holds out
Just signed up for my first marathon ... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Just signed up for my first marathon attempt -- age 72.
Wow, you are amazing, good luck with it all. What a goal you have, wish you luck Bazza. ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈπ
Good luck Bazza1234, just be careful especially regarding the π₯ heat.
Well done Bazza1234 looks like a beautiful place for your first Marathon
Wowsers! Lovely πππ
What an amazing plan! Best of luck with it, and please don't worry too much about the times, especially if it's hot! I'm aiming for a sub 6 first Marathon myself and I'm almost 30 years younger, you sir are a legend!
The are many variables which could come into play over such a long distance, but we go into it having done the training, and trust to luck. We canβt know with any certainty can we π
Heat is an issue for sure but youβre used to it and youβre sensible Go Bazzer πͺππββοΈ
Wonderful! Amazing! Brilliant! ππ»ππ»ππ»
Wow Bazza, well done! That sounds really hot π₯΅
That's just amazing. Great respect to you. Take care
This marathon is not until July next year - I am only now up to the point of 16K longrun in the training plan - this 15K "race" is meant to show whether I am on track to the next milestone which is a HM in early March. Of course, Mike Tyson once famously said "Everybody has a plan - until they are punched in the face!!"
This is so exciting, Iβll be waving my Pom poms.....!!
Good for you I'm following a half marathon plan at mo for one in march but was thinking while I was out running today I'm seventy two years this christmas would love to do London then thought I'll apply next year then defer it if I get in!
I have in the past "planned" to continue on to a full marathon after completing a HM - and then abandoned that idea immediately after the HM I think maybe because I did run the HM's as "races" - putting in 100% effort and it was then too much to even think about doubling the distance. This time around I will run the HM I have planned at a MUCH easier pace - more of a "faster" long run pace than a race pace and will REALLY slow down the pace of my longruns leading up to the marathon.
steady as you goπββοΈ
Brilliant, Bazza. Very sensible to tackle the HM as preparation rather than a race. I look forward to reading about your journey and your success.
Very exciting Bazza, and such an inspiration! Masses of luck with your training ....we believe!!π
Okay... Wow!!!!
