Can't really help you with a plan I'm afraid. After two previous failed attempts to even get to the start line I decided I needed all the help I could get, and signed up with a coach. She does all the planning!
Ha 😊 The "steep" bits in the profile are squidged close together so they look a lot more hilly then they actually are!
You start basically by running around Preston Park, which is on an incline, so you go uphill for a bit (takes a bit of effort), then downhill for a bit (which is nice!) - so that's why there's a peak at the start of the profile. The whole of Brighton runs downhill to sea level - it's really high at the top where it merges with the South Downs, and Preston Park is about two thirds of the way down. So there are some very steep parts of Brighton, but Preston Park isn't really one of them 😊.
I like the loop around the park, because you come to the first mile marker before you leave the park - makes me feel as though I've got something for nothing, anyway!
After that the course heads gently downhill towards the centre of town, then doubles back North again - where there is a pretty steep street to negotiate (Mile 4), but it's only short. Then you go back towards the sea, go out and back to Ovingdean along undulating cliffs (some effort in places - better on the way back though, which is nice). Once back in Brighton & Hove (from around Mile 12) it's pretty flat for the rest of the way. The bit where it dips down REALLY low (miles 19-23 ish) is where you are running right at sea-level along the prom. Then it goes up a bit again when you go back up to the road.
So exciting, and there are so many plans out there to choose from. I did my own thing for my first, just upping mileage and doing intervals etc. I do think core work would help too for when your body gets really tired.
