Odd tightness in only one calf

I’ve had this for two or three days. For a day or so it felt like it was going to knot up into cramp, but it didn’t. It’s uncomfortable but not painful and doesn’t make an appearance at all when I’m running. It catches when I walk upstairs. Rollering it doesn’t help at all. I haven’ t had any calf tightness at all for weeks, since I’ve got used to the constant running up and down hill.

Any ideas anyone? Have I torn the muscle, or what? It isn’t painful, just tight on and off.

Flick..I would go and get it checked out, if it's not easing.....a Sports Physio will be able to help :) I know I am over cautious but having had a minor calf tear... which kept me on the IC ...better safe than sorry... :)

How much does a sports physio cost?

You need a regisered/chatered Physio

Mine was £40..which apparently is reasonable. I self treated for the correct time..but as it kept recurring..after advice from the great folk on here..and Irishprincess was especially helpful..I went and saw the physio...so had 4 appointments..after he discovers a calf tear..two deep sports massages and acupuncture and exercise and slow come back sorted it.

It was money well spent, Flick xx

Yes I agree with Oldfloss whole heartedly. Go and get checked out sweetheart. Hope your better soon❤️Xx

Thank you. Btw did you see the video of Seann snogging Katya? They were really going for it. Mind you, I’d snog Seann if i were 30 years younger! Xxx

in reply to

🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes I did see the video. He is rather handsome though isn’t he and defiantly snoggable! Unfortunately I’m a bit of a stickler where snogging some one whilst married or in a relationship is concerned.......... So I was a tad ☹️☹️disappointed in them as they had given us such a great dancing performance.

Well I suppose it is what it is.

BTW read your which was fab as usual and.....well.... whow....! Those are utterly delicious leggings. New name Flick. “Mother of Dragons” ! 🤣🤣

I think I’ll have to visit Sturdy before Xmas, so I can get some ideas.

Take care my dear running buddy!❤️Xx

I think Strictly is a different situation. They are closer to their dance partner for weeks than they are to their real partners, and are dancing intimately for most of the waking day. Then they were drunk. I’m not condoning it, but I can understand how it can happen. And he really is very attractive, yes 😊

You take care too, loveLy ❤️❤️😊

Yes I can see your point and after I’d written my post I had exactly the same thoughts. It is easy to see how it can happen. Your quite right Flick and of course drink had a lot to do with it. So what say I give them the benefit of the doubt. 🕺💃😀😀Xx

They’ve had to fess up and apologise anyway 😂

I can't offer any advice Flick, but I know the feeling you're having. I've had and like you said, it feels like it's going to turn into cramp, but doesn't. I guess you'd have to have it checked out. Oh, those leggings are fabulous on you, espesh with the trainers. I must get over to sturdy and treat myself, lol 🤣🤣 I hope they're generous, I'd need at least a 16-18 for my curvaceous (not) figure 🤣🤣🤣

Wear with pride my lovely xxx

in reply toquirkybee

Thank you lovely. Sturdys come in every size from xx small to xx large, with three choices of leg length. You would look gorgeous in them. Nothing wrong with your figure xxx

Aww, bless you x I will have a look, there's some lovely choices xxx

in reply toquirkybee

Oh, if you do have a look, don’t be put off if they don’t have much choice in sizes. They sell out but she gets new stock every week. She doesn’t have space to store large quantities❤️❤️❤️

Exactly!❤️

Sorry to hear this Flick. Having had calf issues myself I’d definetly recommend seeing a physio too. Xx

I have a similar problem Flick, left calf often feels like it is going to cramp from about 1k into most runs, went to see a physio when I started getting intermittent pain in left knee. She said I have a lazy left glute and has me doing lots of squats and using a calf stretching board, still early days but I think there has been an improvement. As others have said, if you can afford it physios are worth their weight in gold, mine cost £60 for the initial consult then £50 for follow up. A Google review search of your local physics should reveal the good ones.

in reply toTeri73

I can’t really afford it. I’m hoping it will be ok without. It never happens during a run. I have noticed that I’ve started crossing my right leg over my left in bed, and the pressure point from that is where I have the feeling in my calf, so it could be that simple x

Stop doing that ( if you can) - I have been reading all I can find about calf problems as I am getting them BIGTIME recently. In the reading I have discovered "Compartment syndrome" - which comes in two forms, Acute and Chronic. Mine sounds like the chronic form to me - but the acute form is where blood supply is inadvertently cut off to a muscle ( commonly during periods of unconsciousness ( eg sleep)) For some - like drug addicts, alcoholics etc where the unconsciousness is very deep, it can be VERY dangerous.
