Oh no! that looks so sore ...

A few weeks? less than three? or more?

It's just too easy to stumble isn't it. If only ... and all that :(

Take care of yourself and try not to be too frustrated. There will be more runs ....

Oh no! That's too long 😥. But it will recover, that's the good thing. In the meantime you must model patience and recovery to your lovely lady running buddies, all very important running skills it seems 😀. Heal fast and maybe focus on leg lifts and core strengthening and whatever exercises you can find to maintain fitness without using that poor foot. You will come back mentally stronger and more focused and determined than ever. You will. The physical fitness will very quickly follow. Take care and be nice to yourself 🙂

Oh no Lisaloopy9 ...I’m not pressing like on this one...your poor foot??? And poor you? Hopefully, and I have everything crossed for you, you won’t be out of the loop for long...please don’t worry about your fitness, I didn’t run for a week & a bit until Monday & I could’ve run for yonks if it wasn’t for this pesky ankle pain...rest rest rest, sending you some healing vibes x

Ok, it’s a wide angle smart phone pic, those always look bad. ;) You’ll be fine, we all get fine after strains/sprains/breaks/inflammations/dislocations, the price tags of our hobby. I was sidelined for approx five months (combined) when my knee, then ankle, ballooned to stupid proportions as direct cause of my own careless stupidity. Fixed them both, started again, completed three HMs, currently training for full marathon. Will l get injured again? Of course l will. I run.

I don’t want it to look bad!!!!

I wanna run!

Have no idea about wide angle it’s the only angle I could take to see the damage.

It’s my first injury and I’m annoyed, I’ve worked hard to get to complete two half marathons and don’t wanna lose my fitness.

I’m not looking for sympathy, just sharing my frustration!

I’m a run leader at a great club and have worked so hard to increase our lady runners now I’m not there to encourage and support!

I’m feeling sad about that.

I’m glad you’ve recovered!

Yikes! That looks so sore! So sorry to hear of your injury and your stint on the IC. You may not be able to run with your running group but hopefully you'll still be able to provide them the encouragement and support you've been doing all along from the sidelines. Wishing you a speedy (and not too frustrating) recovery. Not to worry though, you'll be back and able to build your fitness back up in no time, knowing what you have done in the past and what you are capable of. Take care of yourself.

On the plus side it is 6-8 weeks of winter running that you will miss. Still never easy. I had the same thing earlier this year. Nothing makes you want to run more than being told you can't. However, any lost fitness will be quickly regained so don't worry about that too much. Easy for me to say I know. The best thing you can do for yourself is to take it easy.

ARG! How frustrating! But like others have said, at least it coincides with the rainy season! Bad luck...but good timing? 👍

Devastated is a strong word. On the scale of things it could be worse You don’t say “torn”, so it sounds better already doesn’t it 🙂

Ice is fantastically good right from the off When you elevate don’t go too. far - Keep a bend in your leg Anti-inflammatory tabs at bedtime might help, but the anti-inflamm dbit does take a while to kick in.

With a healthy diet, go easy on the dairy products, and ice etc, you might repair quicker than the time given by your doc Eat really/drink healthily.

Good luck Hang in there 💪😃. Keep us posted on your progress. The injury couch can be lonely so that’s where we can help 🙂

I’m only devastated because I have managed to get loads of new ladies to join my running club and as a run leader I can’t be there to encourage and support them.

It’s getting better and I’m doing all the right things, so really hope I can get back out there sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your kind words

Xx

Oh! That looks very painful! I do hope that it is already improving. So good to hear that you are a run leader and have encouraged others to run. Here are some flowers for you 🌼🌺🌸 Get well soon! I wonder whether you were given exercises to do as well as rest, ice and elevation. Appearance wise it reminds me of my badly sprained ankle of 20 years ago. I was given very prescriptive exercises which really helped. Do hope that it heals soon.
