I was supposed to do my long run yesterday but Park Run completely knackered me plus I had to get some shopping for my dad.
The dilemma is do I go for a run after swimming? If I don't run then I will run out of time to get the mileage in (it's only 12 weeks to the Yorkshire Marathon and 10 weeks to Cardiff Half) as I am not sure if I will be able to do a long run on holiday in two weeks time or when I am in Scotland in mid September: I will run on holiday just may not be possible to do the distance needed.
A bit annoyed with myself as I said I was going to run to feel.

Skip swimming and run instead - that way you get the mileage in without the extra fatigue of another activity. I don't even do parkrun or any extra runs now I'm HM training. I think the rest days are essential - but then I'm in my 70s and doing swimming on my two rest days, and yoga and walking the dogs every day - maybe it's more doable if you're younger. You may have wanted to run to feel, and that's good, but you have to be a bit flexible too I would think. But then you've done this before but it will be my first HM, so you know more about it than I do x
Thanks unfortunately I have just been swimming so I will skip the run as feel like I did 13miles yesterday instead of only 5K lol. I will do 14miles next week
The difference for me is that I’d done a half or two before my first race whereas I won’t have done more than 23 miles before Yorkshire. We’ve got this Pippa!
Yes we have Tasha 99. I so want to finish the marathon so I have an idea of how long it will take me to do London or if I don't get into London, Brighton marathon. I will do 14miles next week. Have built up to 13 by doing the Swansea Half marathon about three weeks ago but have still kept running albeit no longer than 5K and swimming.
Mine is exactly the same date. 6th October but in Bournemouth. I had run 19k prior to my first half so not running as much of the distance first is daunting.... but it's also time on feet and pacing. I'll be more confident once I reach 20 miles or 30k! The best thing I've read so far is the training gets us to 30k and the marathon itself is that last 12k run on the day! It is a pretty big run to do lol but I'm training my mind to think that it is acheivable, which it is!
if you get to 23 miles in training you will be doing great really! then its only a parkrun to the finish and your be so pumped up and excited you will get it done. It will still be hard don't get me wrong, but you will finish it.
