Due to the miserable weather and not getting home from work until 6pm I have had no desire to go out for a run. I will run with my running group Thursday morning. Depending on the weather tomorrow after work I may go out as I know I don't have to get up Thursday so early but I am wondering if one run before Cardiff Half on Sunday is enough. I will be at least fresh legged.
Think the training is starting to wear a bit thin. Except a few weeks here and there since Cardiff Half last year I have been training for something. It will be nice to run because I want to rather than to get the mileage done

The least amount? Absolutely none. Very common for me. Not necessarily recommended, but definitely not a deal breaker. You'll be springy in the legs and raring to go 😊
It's up to you and how you feel. Nothing's written in stone, all is individual. Less is more, or nothing is all, in my book, but that's my book. Look, just go and do it.
I think a decent taper the week before is a great idea, a run with your club should do it. I've certainly done very little the week before on several occasions xxx
I have done 3 half marathons and have done a 30 min run on 3 alternate days in the week before each, just to keep the legs fresh whilst ensuring recovery and rest makes up most of the week. I would not personally run the morning after a run the evening before as I know I would not have fully recovered but we are all different. Good luck with your half! Hope it all goes well for you.
I don't consciously train for anything so sometimes when I decide to set off on a long one I get a bit nervous if I feel I'm not up on my mileage but it always comes right in the end 👍🏻😁
I had two weeks off before the Brighton Marathon last year! Stupid calf 😊
I only ran once in the week before the new forest hm and got a new PB. This week I have only run once (today) before my Bournemouth hm as I have a groin injury. I'm hoping to keep running round the course, no pb this time.
Thanks. I have been to my running group today (Thursday) and ran 15:25min mile pace. Not been in the 15mm bracket for a while so was happy. Got a sports massage booked for tonight in preparation for the Cardiff Half on Sunday. Can't wait. Just hope the weather behaves itself
Sounds like you are totally prepared for the Cardiff half! Enjoy your sports massage, let them know you are running sunday so they dont pummel you too much!
On the plan I followed before my first half I think I did something like a four miler, a three miler and a two miler. At most. I will tend to do more now but it doesn’t make me run faster. You will be fine!
Hi Tasha99. The half went well until just before 10miles then my legs were starting to get tired. The atmosphere was fantastic and met some lovely people. I was slower than last year but in light of the tragic death of a runner after the race I was grateful to have finished. I have decided to do the 10 mile race on 20th October then decide whether or not to do the marathon next year. I didn't get into London via the ballot or the second draw *(received my Sorry you have been unsuccessful magazine and running top when I got home from Cardiff yesterday.
I didn't know until someone texted me to ask how I got on Sunday and said how sad it was that someone had died. Thank you. I treated myself to a jacket at Cardiff as I have said that I am not doing it again.
