Unexpected boost this morning...

After another week of no running (lots of golf, not sleeping well, all the usual excuses!) I finally got my backside in gear and got out this morning for what turned out to be a very tough 10k over the most hilly route I have yet run on. Was definitely running on empty at the end when my neighbour went past in her car - my wave back to her was a bit weak and pathetic!

Also passed two runners twice each on the way around - one bright young thing who was skipping along like a gazelle in her bright pink trainers and made me feel like a lumbering wreck... and the other "larger lady" who was out walking/jogging her dog, who in fact made me feel like the athletic one. Maybe that means I'm getting to be an "average runner"? :)

Anyoldhoo, with only 11 days to go to the Cardiff 10k, it was good to get another 10k under my belt - if I can now run every other day or thereabouts for the next week I should be all set.

And finally - what was that "unexpected boost" I mentioned? When I got back I weighed myself for the first time in a week, fearing the worst, but was a full 4lbs lighter than I'd expected! This meant I had passed one of my target weights and (fanfare of trumpets please)...

...I am now at my lowest weight for 18 years!

Great stuff Ian, your average runner bit suggests a rerun of the John Cleese /Ronnie Barker /Ronnie Corbett upper /middle /lower class sketch

Yeah, with all due respect to the other two, they were pretty much the extremes of the "running type", so very much like that sketch. I was just relieved that the "speedy gazelle-type creature", on both occasions, was running the other way - so I didn't have the ignominy of her happily skipping past me as though I was standing still :)
