A different kind of first

Out for a 12k this morning. The new shoes didn't come along as the ground was wet 😚.

I knew I would get wet at some point - and I did - at 2k in the heavens opened to a tremendous deluge accompanied by a full on head/side wind that lasted for another 2k 😮. The rest of the run was in drizzle/'ordinary' rain, I really enjoyed it.

Here comes the first - I had to hang my clothes on the line to dry, as they were still dripping (and not because I had been glowing, it was an easy run today) before I could put them in the linen bin.

Sounds like you went through a full-on weather adventure there Annie. I’ve never gotten that soaked in the rain, but I did come home drenched after our group ran through some children’s splashpads on a really hot morning. Forgot all about my phone which thankfully survived the ordeal. Other smarter runners put their phones in waterproof ziplock bags.

It was great Decker. Thankfully, I always put my phone in a waterproof bag (as I never expect to make/receive calls) and the in pocket, bumbag, camelback. Glad you got away with it 😀

😃👍🏃‍♀️. It’s peeing it down here now. It rained last night but it was even hotter afterwards. Cooler today, and very windy. I wore my coat to walk the dog, and had to put my hood Up? Felt so gooooood The dog was sprightlier too 🙂

I’m running tomorrow and I think it’s going to be raining🏃‍♀️💦. Oh to be not boiled to death 😃

I really don’t want to hear that. Put my top on and it got glued to my back in seconds. There is ‘heat’ at home and there’s persistent hot weather that goes on for several months and nothing stops because of it. I genuinely admire stoicism of the guys who simply live their lives and ignore it. Give us a few months and the forum will buzz with complaints about rain and then cold. Lol

I might complain about too much rain but never the cold - I'm a winter baby and until last year hardly ran in any heat.

You must be spending an inordinate amount of time rehydrating right now.

They’ve just issued a weather warning for the week ahead, first time in over a week I’ve been here in Croatia. That’s when it’s not likely to drop below 33-34C, haha, oh dear... Funnily enough all is well. Occasional cramp aside (more stretches in return), constant water intake and staying away from the sun during peak times and my body’s fully adjusted. Even the mosquitoes lost interest in me somehow. ;)

Wow! I know which I prefer. As you say, in a place where hot is normal and it life just carries on as usual, a weather warning is a bit worrying. Stay safe. The mozzies have probably moved onto someone less diluted, probably lots of new tender flesh arrived to sample.

I ran in vile weather last winter to be ready for a Feb half marathon

You have just do it. If you stopped to think about it you’d never get out the door 🙂
