Can’t be, I hear you say. Here’s the thing. I’m writing this post 6.85k into a 10k run. Anyone else posted mid-run? 😅
Yes, it was going that badly 😂
It’s the first time I’ve done this (apart from one emergency), but I gave up. I simply couldn’t be bothered. Wrong leggings, wrong surface, wrong weather, hideous trainers, bad nutrition and hydration over the last couple of days, late nights, weary legs from standing for hours and hours. So maybe you understand?
And to add insult to injury I had a ‘where the heck did that come from?’ playlist pop up! Croatian pop tunes! Nothing against them - we have sung some Croatian tunes in choir in the past. But it wasn’t what I was after today! 😅
And my watch froze during a deluge.
And I was hungry.
I walked a bit, I tried a bit of 5:2 Jeffing, but I had no incentive to run any more. I was cold and wet (again) but I’m darned if I’d let myself go home.
So here I am, walking 10k with Coach B giving useful advice!
I’ll still mark it as done on my plan, but note to self; I owe NRC a 10k run! 😅
Oh and now my watch has frozen on 8.20k! 🤣

I think you should forget about that run CC, good advice to a runner on what NOT to do before a run. I hope your choir concert went well last night, at least you got out this morning despite the weather, let's hope that your next run is back to your normal time and you enjoy it 100% better than this morning.
A strategic withdrawal…that is what this was. Chipmunks never give up…you made a good rational decision to stop…the bad decision was starting given the circumstances. Next one will be fine.👍
oh dear. You look happy enough and Flossie doesn’t seem bothered. You got some fresh air, the dog got walked and when you finally finish your walk you can shower, warm up and eat, then enjoy the rest of the weekend. Some days s**t happens, just move on girl, you’ve got this.
I was grinning because it was so ridiculous Shakes! I knew it was going to be a tough one, but I was resigned to trotting around and getting into my zone. The zone never came, and my willpower disappeared. I’ll press reset and start W5 with a fresh pair of legs! 😀
A 10k run after the last few days you’ve had? Don’t feel bad about a meh run. I’m amazed you actually got out of bed. Flossie walked, you can now sit back and watch Wimbledon with a glass of pimms. 🎾🍹
I’m usually good at kicking gremlins into touch, but today’s run wasn’t meant to be and they had one over on me big time. Next run will be at the gym on Tuesday and I already know it’s going to be much better. 🙏
Thats very true, I hope your gym run is really enjoyable and puts a big smile on your face, I've had a few runs where it wasn't going well and I've given up and gone home miserably, then we get a good one and it's all really worth it.
Simply not worth it if you’re not enjoying it is it? Ordinarily I never get runs like that, but today I knew I wasn’t going to have a good one and I really shouldn’t have even bothered.
No it really isn't, I ran the length of Shoreham beach once and hated every minute, when I got to the bit where I'd be running on the prom Willow was parked and I got in the car tears streaming down my face, he said what's up you ran 4k, I wailed, I wanted to run all the way home and make 10k but I just can't, the next run was great. I decided I really don't like running there and haven't since 😁 it's too far to run from home and back again so I doubt I ever will but I love all the places I run now
It helps to have favourite routes. I love my common (I even did a whole post about it once), but it’s unforgiving in bad weather. It wasn’t the right place for today, but I doubt if anywhere would have been, the way I was feeling. 🙄
I'm planning to, while running Saturday I worked out my plan for this week, my aim is to run without walk breaks even if I'm slower, I was so impressed with the guy just in front of me who walked and although neck and neck for most of it I couldn't catch him up at the end. After the first kilometre there was this old guy just in front of me with white hair and a bit bent over, he looked like he was barely running, I stayed with him for a while but he was much too fast for me and I never saw him after the first half. It was great seeing the other two running back and waving. I seem to have found my purpose to run, I think that's why I keep starting plans then fizzling out, there is no reason for it, but if I can run better and not get too puffed out I will feel I'm improving 😁I'm a bit obsessed at the moment with running and Parkrun
That’s fantastic news Sue. You’ll no doubt make new friends too. It’s such a friendly group of people at PR.
It also makes it so much more enjoyable when there is a purpose to your runs and a goal to aim for, whether it’s to get faster, run hills better or to train up for a race. That’s why I always have at least one race booked ahead of time, plus PR of course!
Haha any excuse to have another date Coach Bennett!! On the serious side, you're still smiling and thats a pretty long list of things that were pretty much against you at the start!!😜
I felt soooo guilty when I was walking along in the rain and Coach Bennett was giving me all his wonderful tips. I didn’t want to disappoint him which is why I kept the app running! But yes, my long list of things certainly should have made me quit sooner! Onwards to W5 and I’ll make up for today’s disaster then. 😀
Yes, had a similar run myself today. I've been feeling quite well these last few days, so I decided to go for one of the 16K runs I've missed off my NRC plan. Didn't feel quite so well when I got up (headache - could that be a mini hangover? Surely not!)
Felt wrong from the start, slightly uphill felt like a mountain, and when I saw a turning back to my part of town I took it....3K run, 3K walked...shame really as it was a lovely running day, not too hot, a nice breeze...
Coach Bennet tells us it's a great thing to know when to bail out from a run.
Maybe we need to have a “thing” here where we ask folks to do a little post mid-run to check out how it’s all going 😂
Oh Munks, that was a litany of bad run vibes, no wonder you felt like stopping. There was so much going on on that run. But well done to you for carrying on and getting it finished no matter what. Not the way you wanted but done all the same. The mark of a true runner 🏃♀️🙂
I stumbled across this and watched it while completing kitchen tasks. It left me in tears, well a bit any way. Nothing really to do with your run!
Well you are a super star to me! 🌟In those circumstances and still completing 10km. I wouldn't even be able to post mid run if I wanted to, as I haven't put the app on my phone, I assume that you have.
Looking forward to hearing of your happy run 😊🏃♀️
Haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet over61, but I’ll do so a bit later. 😀
Thanks for your kind words. It was basically a glorified long walk! I don’t use the app either, but I have plenty of data to play with on my phone so thought I might as well do something to take my mind off it 😅
I found it just astounding! It must be quite a route as he so often described the views as stunning. How much training must be required? So, so much! And then more!
I reckon you're right, that must be a 1st! Sounds like you had a hard time, but still smiling and made it to the end so much kudos for that cheekychipmunks xxx
I had to smile aliboo, mainly because what I was doing was so ridiculous, especially with Coach Bennett congratulating me on such a great run! Little does he know. 😅
