So I finally got out for my long run today and it was so nice to do the whole run in the light and it was much warmer too! Safe to say that I don't miss winter training when it's cold, dark and wet!
Instead of just running the same pace all the way through the run, I thought I would change things up and run 2K at a recovery pace (I do it via effort perception and 3 steps breathing in, 3 steps breathing out) and then 2K at a faster pace (2 steps in, 2 steps out) and then repeat the whole thing again to make up 8K. So was that some sort of tempo run I did in my long run too?
Anyway, I managed to run 8K in an hour which is a huge step for me because on previous 8K runs it usually takes me 1 hour and 15/20 minutes! But today I managed an hour which I am so pleased with! Now the website isn't letting me upload a photo of my time which is quite annoying so will post it when it's working again!

Yes exactly! Now all I've got to do is incorporate some strength and core building stuff in to my weekly routine and hopefully I'll see even more improvements! 😀
Fantastic run and time for you today Redcello41, all that HM and strength exercises are beginning to pay off, it won't be long before you can run a 10K in a hour.
Great run! And very disciplined! I'm too distracted by the scenery 🏞️ and wildlife 🦊🐮🐷🐏🐭🦔🐿️🐇 and whatever podcast I'm listening to, to take in what's going on on my watch 😂 x
Thanks! I don't tend to get distracted by the scenery and I'm very strict with myself that I mustn't stop when I'm running. The only thing that I occasionally do get distracted by is my music that I listen to on my runs! I suddenly hear a track that I really like and I just have to know what it's called so I fumble round on my phone while running trying to find out what it is! And I almost always forget the track name after! Typical musician hahaha!
😊 During my C25K runs, I used to listen to a lot of funk/soul /disco tracks and would almost dance my way up those hills 😂 But now the only things I can listen to are either radio play podcasts, audio books or classical music 🎶 I particularly enjoy Mahler Symphony No. 2 in C minor on a long run 😌
Oooh that's so cool! I listen to epic film soundtracks and that keeps me going! I'm a classical musician and that's the only sort of genre that I listen too, but apart from running weirdly! I love Mahler second symphony, I may be tempted to try listening to it during one of my long runs! What other classical music to you like listening too?
Wow they are all great pieces! I love Sibelius violin concerto and Stravinky's too! I also love anything by Elgar! I'm a cellist so I am very familiar with The Swan, it's the piece that inspired me to start learning the cello in the first place! I also play a bit of piano and have recently completed a Masters in composition! My latest project is teaching myself the accordion!
