I've been trying to get out early with all this hot weather, but there are only so many times I can get away with a 06:30 alarm on Sunday morning before sparks start flying... So it was around 09:30 before I got out this morning.
One of the nice things about having a coach, other than she does her level best to kill me with intervals once a week, is that I don't have to think about the schedule. She says run five miles, I run five miles. But five miles in this heat? Bloody hell! That was tough.
But, it's in the bank now and that's week three of the new regime put to bed too. And I must say I'm liking it. Signing up with a coach was a great idea, so far.

How did you find a coach? I have considered this a few times but there is obviously a cost. However I imagine there would be results too. What are your aims with your coach?
Took a few false starts, and several months to find someone I'm comfortable with, but so far she's a god-send.
Yes, there's a cost, obviously. But you get a lot for it, I think. Pretty much my training is laid out for me, I get a 1:1 session each week and she's available most of the time on email etc. if I've got questions.
This is my third attempt at training for a marathon, I decided if I wanted the best chance of getting there I was going to need help.
I guess it boils down to what value you put on achieving the goal. So far I think she's well worth the cost.
So assume she works out your route together and then you work out the routes for the other runs? Sounds like a positive experience. I shall look into it!
Sort of. The 1:1 session splits up into a warm up jog for 10 minutes, 10 minutes or so on drills and then an interval session for half an hour followed by stretches. We're doing this in the park/footpath/woodland near where I live.
The rest of the week she gives me a run/strength set/cross session/rest day on a specific day. She tells me how far and a target pace.
