For reasons which will become clear in a few daysโ time, Mr Sandie drove me to Lincoln Cathedral this morning and I ran home. I wasnโt sure just how far it was, but, having driven down the A46 into Lincoln more times than I can count, I discovered that there is a footpath/cycle way nearly all the way home. Anyway, it turned out it was exactly 10k. I had to walk a couple of times because it was just so hot and I foolishly forgot my water bottle, but still managed a respectable 1:10:43. Furthest Iโve been from home in 2 months - feels quite surreal!

Hot 10k ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅต
Good idea having Mr Sandie drive you and drop you Sandie. Sounds like a nice route home too - how convenient. ๐
Yes it was hot wasnโt it? I ran fairly early and kept my 10k flat (which I donโt necessarily find easier for some reason), and soon wished Iโd gone earlier still. ๐ฅต๐ฅต
Good warm up for Monday Sandie, but I am guessing your run wasnโt about that. Have been lecturing my youngest about taking a drink on long runs....enough said ๐
A really good time considering the temperature today Sandie; it Certainly beats my fastest 10k.
I know what you mean about being further away from home. We decided to leave Southsea as everyone else was pouring in for the beach, and headed to the New Forest for a picnic and a walk. It occurred to us that we hadnโt been so far for months and it had always seemed like just on the doorstep before.
That sounds very mysterious - am i missing something here? It was bloomin' hot today - 10k in this weather is a minor miracle. Well done to you!
Wow!! I never realised that. Living just outside of Grimsby I have been down that road a lot. A super time too and in those conditions! Always great to run towards home on a distance like that. Well done!
I feel a story unfolding soon... Sounds like a great run in that heat. I feel for you and the water. I try to get my runs in early just to avoid the heat if possible.
๐ nice run! ๐
Just wow...well done you and a great time too!
Great run Sandie and I can't wait to hear about what you're up to ๐๐
A race perhaps or some training for something in particular? ๐ค
Plenty of scope in Lincs
I went on a roof tour of Lincs cathedral once to escape heavy rain. It was brilliant
Iโm hoping to do some park running in the area soon with my niece ๐
Youโll have to wait and see ๐ If you do parkrun in Lincs, let me know where and when (although I fear it is still some way off๐ข) and Iโll join you
Great stuff ๐. It cd be Rasen or cleethorpes
Market Rasen is great for PBs and only 15 mins away. I havenโt done Cleethorpes, but not too far so Iโm happy to do either ๐
Oh is it! ๐ค. Ooooh good to know. Iโll let you know. My niece phoned me last night to commiserate for the news that Iโm now locked down with my husband ๐. Sheโs been injured for weeks. Sheโs getting better now but sheโs got to start over again, so sheโs started C25k again Weโll be over in lincs as soon as we can get free so Iโll suggest parkrun as a leg stretcher for her
If youโre ever in Chez Vegas we could do Poolsbrook ๐โโ๏ธ๐
Oh no, does that mean you canโt go outside to run? My stepdaughter lives in Calow with her OH and kids - we did Poolsbrook together just after she finished C25k but she hasnโt really taken to running ๐ข Good cafe though!
Fab cafe. I couldnโt believe how good ๐. The first time I did parkrun there I didnโt take much cash. I think I had just over a quid. Enough for a vending machine drink I went in and how much for a drink as Iโd not got much cash. The chap said not to worry just gimme what youโve got. He even bought it out to me No vending sludge either.
I run through Calow quite a bit. Itโs there where I ran through freshly falling snow one night, when all the coal fires were lit cough cough cough ๐๐. The only folk about weโre dog walkers and they all spoke to me as I jogged past. I go up to Brim sometimes. Iโve run all the way to Brim then onto the canal and back towards the station
No, I canโt go out ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ only into the garden. ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คฌ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฑ๐ฐโน๏ธ๐๐๐คจ
My nephew and his wife came by this morning with shopping for us. Sheโs a practice nurse so we got suitable things like hand sanitiser ๐ Bog roll ๐. Bless her she bought me a huge bunch of flowers, get well card ๐ a glossy homes and gardens magazine. Huge bar of choc (which is safely hidden ๐) grapes, apples, vegetables and tea bags. yay. My husband got a box of Corona beer, a bottle of whiskey and wine ๐. She took a box of stuff to my son too as he ended up in hospital yesterday with food poisoning ๐ค๐. Heโs now self isolating at his home as he came into contact with my us and as he had to take him to hospital What a shower ๐
Oh, forgot,to say, my nephew bought me his Wi-fit! ๐คทโโ๏ธ No idea. I didnโt know how it was set up - still donโt. I thought it was used via a computer but OH tells me itโs for the telly So, sommat to play with. Itโs for exercising my nephew says ๐. My husband has gallantly stepped aside as he says we canโt play together Cos of distancing He will sit on the sidelines with his Corona ๐บ
Congratulations on the 10k Sandie1961!! Great time too. Sounds brilliant!! ๐โค๏ธ
That sounds exhausting. I had tickets for the (now postponed) rugby finals in France this weekend, which meant I couldn't enter the event you had been scheduled to do on Monday, and am definitely not in 10K training. I haven't run anything beyond about 7K since staggering over the GSR finish line las October.
Ah fantastic Sandie1961 โค๏ธ
90% of my long runs are done when my husband drops me off in the middle of nowhere and I run home ๐ Really hope you enjoyed it and will venture out like that more often? X
