The Great May Challenge Week 1 Progess post

So, a week into the month already and what a scorcher. The heat has not made it any easier doing ... well anything... but particularly the run/HIIT combo of the challenge. I did it on Saturday doing laps of a lake and alternately 25 burpees or 50 squats each break. Unfortunatey it was around midday when i did it and it was pure murder.

However, it's all good stuff for endurance and stamina and will pay huge dividends to our running. Strength is never a weakness.

How are you all finding it? What exercises are you plumping for? Any funny stories to tell? (IIRC the infamous short splitting incident occurred when i was doing a variant of this training protocol)

Probably a bit early to tell if you are noticing any great benefits from it yetm but is it feeling?

I did walking lunges and air squats. Didn’t do the press ups as it’s was a bit hot to wear gloves ( keep my hands clean 🙂)

Gym tomorrow 💪and running so i’l do some more exercises. My ribs are better now so I can get the burpees sorted out I was doing them wrong

Good work, Miss W. How did you find it? Was it gruelling? was it energising? Did you feel better for it? Feel like death?

The walking lunges fine and easily done en route, ditto squats. I think burpees and press ups are going to challenge me But we start where we start 💪

I was aching last week in my ribs but ok now. Got a tough 10k race on Sunday so tapering this week.

I feel ok 😃👍

... I have a confession... I am late to the party ( however fashionably so)... today I did press ups mid run and smelt of cow sh*t afterwards as couldn't see what was under the long grass. Tomorrow I will do the walking lunges.

Today I did walking lunges mid run. I am not sure what I will do yet tomorrow...

just mid run or every 1km? Or was it just a 2k run?

The run was 1.5 miles. I did them at 0.7 miles in. Does that count? Then I did the other hurty stuff.
