Well first race done. Turned out to be a very muddy cross country which was mostly field margin, woods and at times it felt like swamp lol. But my running prep held me in good stead and I got round in a healthy 65mins. My garmin reckoned it was a bit over 10k so more than happy with that.
Turned out a friend is a martial so got a nice high 5 at the 6k Mark.
Oh and did I mention it was muddy. It was shoe losing squelchy quagmire in places with no option but to slow down or go down. It was remarkable that so few people smashed their coupon in it. I thankfully wore my old mizuno trail shoes and they held up well.
Will definitely sign up for another 10k soon and mud aside it was a lovely experience. Oh did I mention it was raining and 5c lol.
Hatfield forest run next.. Heres hoping. That's more pine needles than squelch. Also considering the wimpole hm as I found the distance quite easy just the mud and sneaky hill at 8k being hard. No walking though π

Sounds like fun and a cute medal to boot. Too bad it wasn't a piggy to go with all the mud you were playing in π.
Edit: Ok went back and looked at Madge's close up of the medal. From your pic it looked like a cow, but I see it isn't. I thought it might go with the rest of the animal theme. Haha. I still like the idea of a little piggy medal to go with all the mud.
Well done! Blimey there was one bit, really slippy, that was slanted towards the trees, one wrong move there and you would have slid straight through the nettles and slap bang into a tree!
