Hey chums,
Reporting in from the Childerley Estate 10K put on by Hoohaah....it was wet, it was muddy, no chance of beating last years time, not to worry, they’d added an extra bit of fun.....pictures of animals round the course - 9 in total, remember the first letter of each animal and at the end make up the secret word, go to the cake stall lady, whisper said word and you’ll get a spring treat.....
It was raining a bit and windy when we got there, chilly wind bbrrrrrrr, very pleased I’d pulled out my base layer long sleeved top......I thought I’d finished with my winter gear.....🤔
Well, firstly the track takes you around farm fields, lovely and muddy, gloopy sticky clay like mud that turns your shoes into lead boots - even trail shoes.....(mine have hole in so my socks were black by the time I finished 😂). grassy in places, long wet grass, so added to the squelchyness of it all.......
Anyway, thought I’d try and look out for the pictures, got Frog, Kangaroo, Elephant ....and that was all I got, I reckon someone nicked them....😂.....or I was too busy trying to stay upright on some of the more challenging parts of the course...
The woodland is lovely, I noticed the scent of the bluebells, and all the marshals were fab.
Nice bit, towards the end, we were on a gravel track, albeit up hill, pretty good for cleaning the shoes up and getting rid of the clumps of mud! 😂. Made it look like you hadn’t been through the mud at all, the splatters of mud up my legs tell a different story....
All in all a good work out, the rain stopped and held off for the duration, think I got snapped by the photographer at the end - which is unusual, they’re usually doing the prize giving, so little me trots in undetected 😂....
Hope pinkaardvark enjoyed it, we didn’t get to meet, maybe another time.....oh and I reckon (on checking the animal pics with OH) the secret word was ‘kerfuffle’.....in Hoohaah’s strapline see, ‘not a fuss, not a kerfuffle...just a hoohaah’ , but didn’t work that out ‘til we got home.......doh! 🙄 no treat for me! (I bet they’d have run out anyway....by the time I’d got there....😄🏃♀️)
My time was 1hr 17, given the conditions, and some aching bones, I’m quite happy with that.
Happy running all! Hoohaah! Hoohaah! Hoohaah! (No hurtling today though....but thanks for all your good wishes and for roseabi ’ s shout out..👍.....😂)
