OK, I've done it. York marathon booked and paid for for October and accommodation requested (probably in totally the wrong place knowing me). OoerπŸ˜‚

Good for you - that gives you lots of time to build up (says she who has never done one).

That's my hope AR, I started an Asics programme at the end of January - only one I could find long enough to give me a chance of finishing (assuming I actually start)!πŸ˜‚

There will be no end to it Annie - it took me all afternoon to settle on a B&B even though they were disappearing / showing as full up as I looked!

Well done! One thing I've learned over the past 6 months is: don't start your training too soon, or you'll get fed up when you really need to be pushing yourself.

Thanks for that C3PO. I can see how that would happen. For me I'm only doing 3 runs a week to train as per usual so hoping it won't be too different to my 'normal' running in that respect. It's only later on that the longer runs get, well a lot longer. I will keep in mind what you've said though, useful to know.

I allowed four months. it felt like four years 😁

Good for you. I think it should be made easier by having lots to see. Lovely York and a busy field will keep your mind off the running, and make the race go quicker. That’s the idea anyway πŸ˜ƒ

So, all that remains is to get going πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒπŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Good luck

Thanks misswobble . I've allowed lots of time as I think that suits my mindset better (although I will bear in mind what C3PO has said). I think as I run 3 times a week it's easier to do the plan a long way out to get unpressured miles into my legs. Although I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time πŸ˜„. The plan doesn't get too demanding until July. I suppose I can always just start another plan nearer the time if I am getting stale.

I had my marathon plan and pulled in other races along the way πŸ™‚
