I made it to the big one! It was meticulously orchestrated to fall on November 5th to allow as many friends as possible to make it, and all that threatened our Severn Bridge run was the ever present chance of it being too windy to go ahead! The bridge had closed periodically during the week, and todayโs forecast didnโt look too clever either. ๐ณ But the weather gods smiled on us and the rain mostly held off. The wind was lively but not Bridge threatening. ๐๐ป
So after meeting yesterday evening for a tasty meal, ย TailChaser ย Katnap ย Dexy5 ย UpTheStanley ย Sandie1961 ย Shake-and-run ย SkiMonday , Jenny and myself all descended in the colourful little below-Bridge tunnel clad in our black cat gear! Ears, masks, tails (of all shapes and sizes) catty leggings and paws. ๐ I had a balloon too - until he broke free and was last seen heading for the Welsh valleys, possibly accompanied by Sandieโs ears whoโd clearly had enough! ๐
We all ran well, with a mix of times between speedy and not-so-speedy (but I felt stronger than last week so ๐๐ป).
Then the hard work began. We had a brunch reservation in Bristol for 10:30. No problem. But when your satnav ignores a critical road closure and doesnโt offer you an alternative, your passengers are treated to a โdelightfulโ tour of Bristol with an increasingly grumpy driver who was trying to navigate and keep the car behind in sight so they wouldnโt get lost forever. Good old Bristol, always fun to drive around, said no one ever. ๐ But we made it to a nearby carpark eventually, just a few minutes late, although I still donโt know how to get to the darned restaurant by car. ๐
Thanks for coming everyone. It was wonderful to have you all there, and Iโm pleased we didnโt need to resort to Plan B - Ashton Court! ๐
