Interesting 5K run today and a lot of puddles!

So I decided to run along the canal path near my house because I wanted to change up my route and because I was running during the day, a opposed to running really early in the morning when it's dark (roll on spring and summer!)! There was a lot of stopping and starting due to puddles, crossing roads, cobbles stones downhill and uphill but I also found the run quite difficult for some reason so also walked for a minute every now and again. I just couldn't get my breathing under control for the whole run even though I was going at quite a slow pace, very frustrating! Apart from the puddles and mud on the tow paths, it was actually a very nice route! I had no idea where I was but I loved running by the river and the tow boats and loved running underneath the bridges! So there's always something positive on a run! Oh and my knee felt fine! :-)

Good run for you Redcello41, are you doing the Vitality Running World Cup?

This afternoon at 2 o'clock I will be running for 30 minutes, that's the qualifying run, hopefully I'll be able to run a 3K in that time as I have ran a 5K in just over 32 minutes.

Thanks! No I'm not doing the Vitality running world cup, not even sure what it is to be honest hahaha 😃

Still time to do it, Google "Vitality Running World Cup" for details.

There are 98 people in Healthunlocked team for the Vitality World Running Cup, to qualify you are asked to run at least a 3K in 30 minutes if you want to run more than 3K in that time that is OK, qualifying starts today and lasts for about a week after that, to be honest, I am not sure, the other runs are on Saturdays in March with the final in the first Saturday in April.

Good for you RC41, I have just ran 4.41 kilometers in 30.41 so I think that I have qualified for the Vitality World Running Cup.

My 5K run was 44:54 so I have no idea if that qualifies or not. I will probably sign up next year because I've got enough to be thinking about with the Bath Half coming up. 😃

Yes, it has been reported that some people are having difficulties getting into the site, so far, both with my laptop and my Android Smartphone there have been no difficulties, I have not got Garmin, it's that app or watch which see, to be causing some problems.

Well done on the puddle loaded run Redc my towpath is normally such I nice place, though the other week after all the rain omg puddles ( correction lakes) they were totally unavoidable, try as I did in the end I was just ploughing through them in defiance, apart from soggy trainers (now all good and dry) it was a nice run 🤗 but the feeling of running with a left and right foot sloshing around until the water had dispersed was a weird one 🙄

Yeah I definitely ran through a few 'lakes' today and my socks and shoes were soaking by the end of it. At the beginning of my run I was dodging them as much as I could but then one the way back I just ran through them too! Yes water in your shoes is a very weird feeling!😃

A route to try again when everything's dried up! It must've been hard to get into a rhythm with all the stopping and starting; maybe that's why it felt difficult. Great news on the knee though, that's the main thing 👍

Just what I was thinking on my run! The route will be lovely to run in the summer when it's dry! And I'm also very pleased that my knee wasn't playing up! 😃

Good! Running along the canal in always interesting as there’s always something new to see. You’d think it would be pancake flat but it’s not

I wish ours had boats plying up and down but sadly not. It has a boat. Singular 😁

Thanks! Yeah, there were a few small inclines on my way out but I didn't run back down them because they were mostly made out of a gravel surface! There's quite a lot of boats along the canal and every now and again I could smell smoke coming from a few! Will definitely try out the same route but when it is dryer! 😃
