I made it to the big one! It was meticulously orchestrated to fall on November 5th to allow as many friends as possible to make it, and all that threatened our Severn Bridge run was the ever present chance of it being too windy to go ahead! The bridge had closed periodically during the week, and todayβs forecast didnβt look too clever either. π³ But the weather gods smiled on us and the rain mostly held off. The wind was lively but not Bridge threatening. ππ»
So after meeting yesterday evening for a tasty meal, Β TailChaser Β Katnap Β Dexy5 Β UpTheStanley Β Sandie1961 Β Shake-and-run Β SkiMonday , Jenny and myself all descended in the colourful little below-Bridge tunnel clad in our black cat gear! Ears, masks, tails (of all shapes and sizes) catty leggings and paws. π I had a balloon too - until he broke free and was last seen heading for the Welsh valleys, possibly accompanied by Sandieβs ears whoβd clearly had enough! π
We all ran well, with a mix of times between speedy and not-so-speedy (but I felt stronger than last week so ππ»).
Then the hard work began. We had a brunch reservation in Bristol for 10:30. No problem. But when your satnav ignores a critical road closure and doesnβt offer you an alternative, your passengers are treated to a βdelightfulβ tour of Bristol with an increasingly grumpy driver who was trying to navigate and keep the car behind in sight so they wouldnβt get lost forever. Good old Bristol, always fun to drive around, said no one ever. π But we made it to a nearby carpark eventually, just a few minutes late, although I still donβt know how to get to the darned restaurant by car. π
Thanks for coming everyone. It was wonderful to have you all there, and Iβm pleased we didnβt need to resort to Plan B - Ashton Court! π

Well done cheekychipmunks and lovely running friends, look like you had a great time celebrating your 100th Parkrun πββοΈππββοΈπ₯³ππ
thank you for inviting me. I had a great run, enjoyed the views and itβs the furthest I have run with tails and ears. The company was delightful and the cafe and pub grub both delicious.
Epic effort with the ears Shakes, especially as you steadfastly kept them on during brunch too! π (Donβt tell me you still have them on now!) πββ¬
Congratulations CC on completing your π― parkrun at Severn Bridge, those are lovely photos, all those fireworks tonight are for you at π―, I hope you enjoyed your well deserved meal after the run, onwards and upwards to No. 200
It certainly is Sola. At least the promised torrential rain didnβt materialise. I donβt think it would have dampened our spirits much if it has though! π
I think you're forgetting that I hate crowds, don't do mornings, and my nearest parkrun is a 3.5 hour drive away. Each way, that is. However I've run a metric marathon wearing bright yellow bunny ears. π― If that helps! π
How brilliant it was Β cheekychipmunks ! So pleased to be able to run lots of it with you again. The run along the bridge was so exhilarating with the wind blowing broadside. Passing the border between Wales and England was amazing, especially as England was flying the Royal Navy Ensign. We were so lucky it didnβt start raining until the last km or so. It was lovely to meet all the gang again plus daughter Jenny and Β SkiMonday . Our black cat outfits brought smiles to faces in the hotel, parkrun and restaurant. πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬
I am really pleased with my time and you should be too. Enjoy the Quality Street!
I hear you got a 100 badge to keep you going until you get you T-shirt. π―
Iβm so happy you were able to come and that the weather wasnβt as horrific as threatened Dexy. Hopefully you understand why Iβve now done 22 out of my 100 PRs at Severn Bridge!
I may or may not have been snacking on Quality Street this afternoon β¦β¦. π
Have a safe trip home, and see you for the next one! π
Shame you couldnβt come along CLR. But youβre a more sensible runner than I was, and have wisely chosen not to run with a π€§ Hope you feel better soon. π€
Another epic event/meet up;π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ all over the place! Congratulations on your 100 cheeky and well done everyone for helping you to do it in real style. Classy class of 2018 plusππ
A true bunch of Classy Cats indeed BC! It was fabulous to see them all again, of course, and now itβs on to the next personβs milestone, or whatever excuse for a meetup we find! π
Delighted for you and I'm displaying a big grin π π―Whoopee! Whoopee! And Sandie1961 driving 200miles! Wow! I hope she stayed around a while. All sounds wonderful and such happy faces in the photographs. πππββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈπ
We had the best time Over61! It was nice for my daughter to meet them all too, as theyβve all heard about her, and she about them! I feel very lucky to have such lovely running friends, all thanks to HU. π₯°
We all went down yesterday and stayed at the Premier Inn so that we could have dinner, so loads of time to catch up since our last meet up at GSR πππ
Woo! 100 Parkruns? I just did my 15th I think πThat must take real dedication. So good to hear you all had a fabulous time, despite the attempted curveballs. Huge congratulations πππ
There could be a competition here! Will linda9389 still be ahead of my total by the end of the year or will I pull in front? That would mean another 3 ParkRuns this year. Given that my average is around 1 every 12 weeks, Iβd have to up my game a lot! Besides, she might get tactical and throw in another one or two herself! π² πββοΈ π
I am planning to run at Pomphrey Hill next Saturday so that will get me off to a good start.
Instead of running the course, I tend to volunteer then run there and back. Next year, Iβm likely to get my volunteer-50 shirt before my run-25.
They were indeed Jonathan, and it was such a relief. Even though the conditions obviously werenβt perfect, they could have been a whole lot worse. ππ»π
well done cheekychipmunks and crew. Delighted to see Fenton of Southsea has notched up another tourist visit with his 2 dedicated human minders. I believe there is wet weather gear waiting for him when he returns to base.
Thanks Coddfish! Yes it was lovely to see Fenton with his minders again. π I think wet weather gear would be a great idea for him. He was in the tunnel today which was fortunate.
Thanks W7. No we were very lucky. The forecast wasnβt great and there was a decent cross wind (the best kind really), but the rain basically held off. We were very thankful. ππ»π
Very lucky! I was only a few miles away on my "long easy" Saturday morning run ( which was neither as long or easy as it should have been) and I got soaked!( -but in that nice splishy splashy not cold way π)
whoop whoopππΎπ―! Huge congrats on your 100th PR Cheeky! What a great way to celebrate - running over a bridge wearing a cat costume! Iβm so pleased you had such excellent company for your run!
It was fab cheeky, thank you for inviting us, Iβm so glad we could join you! In fact, Bristol is a lot nearer than many of the tourist runs we usually go to so maybe we will be able to join you for a Greater Bristol at some point π Congratulations again π―πππ
Ooo that would be wonderful TC! You have to try Ashton Court; itβs so much fun. As is Eastville. Just let me know when youβre on your travels! It was lovely seeing you both at the weekend, and thanks for coming. π₯°
