It is now 1.5 weeks into my Australian trip with just three days left. I have found the weather rather hot for running which has led to shorter slower runs taken earlier in the morning. I have juggled these with family plans obviously. I realised early on that my hilly twin skins are hopeless to put on in hot climates having spent almost 10 minutes trying to get my hot sweaty foot in one sock, mono skins are the way forward! A back fastening bra is a nightmare to get on in the heat without risk of dislocating both shoulders, front fastening is great! Otherwise I have managed a 3.6 mile disaster run, a 4.7 mile run (slightly lost), and a beautiful beachy 3.6 mile run. I did two runs last week and so far one run this week. The forecast is heading up to 32 deg C so I am not sure if I will/should run again tomorrow or Friday. I don't know what to do? I will hopefully fly in on Sunday for a run on Monday, back to the hm training schedule.
Edit; just to note that we are staying on the river and it takes me 255 steps up to the main road to run, hasten to say the legs are getting a daily workout and a reprieve from squats π€£
Sorry!! We flew out with snow and ice on the ground so my training runs have been cold. This is another extreme that saps energy! I will have to see if I get out or not.
Thank you! Loving the summer running kit rather than layering up!
Well I went out this morning at 0900 for a cooler 25 deg C run in the sun. 4.3 miles done in 45 minutes. I should have added that before any run there are 255 steps up from the riverside house to the road so I have given myself a break from the squats on holiday π I just hope I can get back into my long runs when I get home.
Sounds like you are doing the best with what youβve got to work with RFD. I had a crisp snowy run this morn π. But I remember going to Mexico last summer and it was brutally hot, so I do sympathize. I think those steps should count as intervals or close to them anyway π
Great job on the holiday running. I started C25k last summer and I quickly learned to get out in the earlier morning. I tend to be up early at the lake anyways, but would limit myself to 1 cup of coffee (without Bailey's π) so I could get out while it was still coolish. I'm so sick of winter so I can't wait to complain about the heat (which I will, I'm sure π ).
