Keep going in December- How is it going?

How has your week been, and what are your plans for next week?

A December challenge for all the forums, whatever stage you are at.

Have you got a plan to keep your fitness levels up over December this year. For some it is the cold, dark and rain that keeps us in doors, for some it is too many late nights and feeling shattered the next day. Or Is it the chance to have some little treats and not worry too much about the Waistline that gets you out the door, or do you need a little Me time when the house is full. This is time of year there are so many reason to stay in and still so many reasons to go out.

So the challenge is set your self a plan that works for and try to stick to it.

Today write you plan down and post it in here. You know once it is in writing it matters πŸ˜€

( make the plan achievable for you, don’t stretch your self too much and take into consideration everything that is going on)

It could be run 2-3 times a week, make sure I go out at least once a week, At least e long runs over December. that sort of thing.

Then post how you did. I will put a new post up for the weeks.

4th to the 10th December

11th to the 17th December

18th to the 24th December

25th to 31st December.

Let’s all keep our fitness levels up through December and go into the New Year knowing we are all still motivated

If your injured or ill take care of yourself and only do what you can, just being mindful of what your body needs is a great thing for your general well being and obviously you can join this challenge any time so even if you come to the site the last week of December you are still welcome.

Still training ? Managed to run this week but it was a bit tricky with snow and icy pavements

Training for January 10k race and a half marathon.

Aim is to run 2-3 times a week but at least go out once a week. I have a 5 mile run booked end of January and potentially hm in April.

I was using the myasics hm plan but am toying with a simple plan of a 3-4 mile run monday and a longer run on thursday at 7 miles onwards and increasing this slowly, followed by a recovery 3 mile park run some weekends. Would that work?

Sounds good to me!

Ice has been a real nuisance this week. Ive managed a run every day but it's either been with yaxtrax on (which have shortened the run to a slow 5k as they are hard work to run in) or slowed down by pouring rain! I had a day off today and wanted to go 18-20 miles but it was just slippery to go too far out of town so ended up turning back from my usual route and heading towards the city centre and main roads to avoid the ice. It wasn't the most enjoyable run ever but I did 13 miles and felt better for it. Hoping for a ice free day tomorrow!

I've run four times this week, so probably need to drop today and tomorrow due to a big party I'm hosting.

I'm really impressed that you can run in yaxtramx, Hillrunner2201 . I had a pair for everyday use but found them so difficukt to put on, they practically left me in tears every time.

Motivation is such a problem!! Have gone out but really not been enjoyable. Yesterday just the thought of defrosting the car windscreen kept me in bed rather than gong to parkrun. Have signed up for a 10k on New Years Day to give me something short term to keep going for. On the plus side still going with the core exercises.

Still aiming to complete the asics program and in the last stages, but hit a wall with the 17 run yesterday and only managed 14. Think I may stray a bit and do some shorter runs to get back into it before attempting the longer run again.

Decker I found the 16k a tough run and was worried about my stamina and strength to get further. I am hoping the new year and spring will be beneficial, the cold air does upset my lung capacity!

Meanwhile I did a 11.5k run on thursday with a nice cold and crisp 5k parkrun in Saturday before my brothers memorial event. That was 2x runs last week. I missed today's short run as I have the dreaded cold that has been circulating. Hoping for a longer Thursday run and a Saturday pre Christmas run........we shall see!

Yes I found the 16 a tough go also, but I went very slow too which helped. Also not a fan of the very cold air - but I know it can be extra challenging for some.

Sounds like you had a couple of pretty solid runs last week. Hope it helped some and that your head cold eases off - I just had some chest thing last week that is now (fingers crossed) on its way out again. Yes - I also want to try and get the big run in before Christmas too. That would feel quite nice. Its is rainy and slushy here now and it sounds like warmer temps are coming tomorrow - maybe a short 5 or 7 run tomorrow - possibly indoors if it is too messy outside.

Yes feeling a bit chesty too from this cold, not helpful is it! We are not as cold here, only 0 or slightly sub 0 deg C. Paths are slippery though. Looks like slightly warmer temps on the way later this week so the snotty cold virus needs to do one lol! Can't believe Christmas is coming....

Yes it sounds like its still slippery in many places where you are, so be careful if you are out - I used to get one of these chest colds every year when I was younger, so I'm just happy it was shorter this time around :). Yes the time is whizzing by. My daughter is bouncing off the ceiling :)

Having missed Mondays run due to a head cold, I got out today. I was slightly worried about my cough, breathing and slightly twingy si joint but it was great. I ran 11.7km (7.3 miles) and it was a slow and steady. My breathing was struggling if I went at a faster pace so I just relaxed into a 6.35min/km pace. My legs were feeling good too. I managed to reunite a baby with her kicked off boots (mum was unaware) and did a good deed whilst at it! Then I realised that my run finished with a horrible hill so slow steady tip toe steps all the way to the top, go me! Cough is fine but si joint more twingy when I sit down, guess I need to keep moving!
