I am type 2 diabetic and running has helped me to keep my diabetes in check so that I am no longer in need of any medication for it. However my diabetic nurse was concerned that my BG (blood glucose) might drop too low when running so I decided to check it.
Today I tested at 6.5 which is a normal reading. I then did a 10K run in 60 minutes and tested again. Far from dropping I found that my BG had nearly doubled at 11.6!
I have made an appointment to consult my doctor but I just wonder if there is anyone else with experience of this?

My husband is Type 2 Diabetic... and I do remember something about this.. no expert obvioulsy..but the act of running as an exercise does, or can cause a rise in BG.. just found interesting comments here too ...
