Well, after the blistering start I made last month, this month has been a bit of a wash-out. As I said in my last post, I managed to injure myself in my last run in my old trainers. I got the fancy new ASICS Roadhawks, but these weren't right so I took them back. I ordered an upgraded version of my old trainers - ASICS Gel Galaxy 9. These arrived on Tuesday, but I only got to road-test them this evening. They are very nice, and pretty comfortable!

My run was marred, however, by bad calf pain, so it turned into a hobble towards the end. My injury obviously wasn't as healed as I'd hoped, but I was desperate to get back into my training programme. Also, I found that running actually felt slightly easier than walking. At least this has given me some practice at coping with injury.

Never mind, though - at least I had a great time in my new shoes. Here is a cheery song to match my mood: youtube.com/watch?v=hmbUNF1...

Great song and I really empathise, coming back from injury is really hard.... I hope you are seeing a physio/ sports osteopath for treatment/ guidance?

I sympathise too, I've had a couple of injuries myself. Some do feel better when running than walking. Hope you get it sorted soon x

Sorry to hear that things aren't going too well. I'm glad you've found a better pair of shoes. It isn't easy to find a pair that works for you.

Thanks everyone! I am going to grit my teeth and leave the running alone today, as I am away all day tomorrow, and have another go on Sunday.

I haven't seen an osteopath but have found some physio exercises on the net that should help.

Good to hear about the new shoes and hope they are good this time! Looks like you've found a good fit!

I'd recommend seeing a physio too if it keeps troubling you, I saw one at my gym for £35 and it was the best thing as she sorted my knee out after 2 weeks of rest did nothing.

The rest days help a lot too and give you more benefit from the training, all the best on Sunday!!
