keeping thinking about hills at beachy head and maybe I should actually start doing some "training" maybe next week!
I have a gotri event on Wednesday a 200m swim, 5km ride and then 5km run, but the swim is in a pool and the ride is on a gym bike but the run is a nice run along the river.
On the IC again here with sinusitis. Still thrilled with my first HM (please can I have my badge?) but now want to get out for a run as surfing on the remnants of the post HM happiness is no longer enough. Loitering on the forum and GC to run by procuration in the meantime...
It must be really painful for the more generously endowed (men or women) to run naked. I wouldn't knock myself out running but I bet that gravity and synergy would take 'em down a peg or too.
I did a short triathlon sea swimming course on Saturday (where I felt a bit slow, but ok), and went for a long (to me) hilly bike ride earlier in the week. Unfortunately a couple of days ago I managed to hurt my shoulder while falling off a stand-up paddle board - Ouch, and also: How?? Anyway, it's on the mend, and I think I'll be back at it tomorrow I've signed up for an intensive sea swimming day which is in a couple of weeks, so I'm hoping to up my swimming game considerably. And it's nearly time to start my 6 week triathlon training plan, hooray!
I managed to get out for several runs last week - still in recovery mode - but as the weather is so glorious, I am doing a 10k (which I have promised to run/walk rather than just run) along the beach on Tuesday. Depending on how I feel after that, I will continue increasing my run intervals (ready to do a hm distance at the cakeathon in Aug)
It's as good as it sounds! It's a 6 hour timed event, you can do as little as 5k (= 1 lap) or as much as you want in the time, there is a cake competition too - and you can eat the cake once you've finished (or if you can run and eat, at the end of each lap!). The bling is awesome, too. If you are in the south east, it's a Saxons & Vikings event. They are always good.
Serves me right for tempting fate! Did my 'Beat the Tide' run last night in the pouring rain - could not have got any wetter (nor saltier) had the tide won. That said, I love this run. There is something very special about running along the wet sand (especially as above the high water line is all shingle) and despite the fact the run is straight out for 5k turn around and straight back, it's never boring. Definitely stays on my list for next year (and this year's rain was SO much better than last year's straight along the beach gale!). My time was slower than last year by 1 min/mile, but as this was completed with a run 3 min walk 1 min discipline as part of my recovery, I am well chuffed. (Even better, knee still bends and feels fine this morning )
Hi all! I'm on the ferry to Germany, slowly making my way to the UK, just in time for the St. George's 10 mile race on IOW on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet aliboo70 . My running has been going well, but I had to drop this morning's run. I guess that means I'll be well rested for Sunday!
My brother Paul and I will be marshalling nearly at the end of the race, it would be great to meet you! We are on the junction of the lane you turn off less than a mile from the end. We'll also be at parkrun at Appley in Ryde if you're here by Saturday! 😊 I will be at the HQ at st Georges school at the start.
That must be the junction where they lied to me about the hill last year!😉
We're arriving on Saturday, so we won't make it to parkrun this weekend, but I'm planning to send hubby and the kids to parkrun next weekend. I didn't realize there was one in Appley, so that's great news.
I think that's the one! With that uphill that goes on just when you don't need it! I need to check my map with the lane names, ( it might be the one before that! )
Parkrun is at Appley til September while the Medina field recovers from the IOW festival! Its a lovely course along the seafront it only a couple of hills!
If you fancy any runs in the week, there are club nights on Tuesday and Thursday, plus others too!
Hope to see you at the start too! my proper name is Ali Butcher so someone may be able to point me out(though i don't know all the club members yet!)
I didn't get the sub 50 10k I was hoping for and instead got 52 minutes probably due to a cold coming on and some hot weather on the day. Boo! On the plus side, the cold has gone, and I did a slow but very enjoyable 14 miles on Thursday and today I am doing my first parkrun! Despite doing lots of other races I've never got round to doing a parkrun so this should be fun. I'm also planning my longest run so far on Monday for my marathon training, 18-20 miles depending on how it goes.
