my running club has a track session going on tomorrow night, I might try it I have never run on a proper running track. It's at the local posh school (my school just used some paint on a field). Hopefully, i can get the kids in bed and out the door.
A bit of cycling and a bit of running hopefully get a long run in on Friday and go over the half marathon mark.
It's good to give yourself time to recover. You'll have put a lot of strain on your body. That said, it's also good to get back into the swing of things and reap the benefits of all the fitness you built up during the HM training
Not sure about building up my fitness. My times got worse as the training went on so I think I was training too much. Nice to get back to gentle 5K and looking forward to doing parkrun again this weekend
I've started my triathlon training a little earlier than planned, or at least I did some of the first week of the plan last week, and will do it again this week (had a 30 minute run this morning). I was tired of waiting But it does officially start next week, yay! I have something to do every day except Saturdays, which is a change for me. I'm currently feeling a bit sore from the strength training yesterday!
I'm also doing a race on Friday which is my first ever fun run - no timing of any sort. And here's a fun fact: it starts at 5:30 am!! It's 5.3 km, and we get fruit and Parmesan cheese afterwards, because it's an Italian job I'm looking forward to it, except that I think it's gonna be a bit windy... Anyway, I'm only planning on a gentle jog and atmosphere soak.
Being at the starting line before 5:30 doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun to me lol, but apart from that it sounds really good. Great that you've started early on the tri training, it never hurts to be a little ahead of the game.
Still ticking along with my 80/20 training, and have settled into a regular rhythm of one after-work run with fairly hard intervals, one long weekend-run with some 10k-pace thrown in, and a couple of gentle recovery runs added to bring the volume up. It seems to work as my HR is coming down for comparable pace, so I'm pleased. Once I have some more datapoints I foresee a spreadsheet and a graph appearing lol
They are Brighton seagulls, they like anything! My next door neighbour started feeding one so it wouldn't keep walking into her house and taking the cat food.
I went *really* crazy today on my lunchtime run. Wait for it. I ran my usual route BUT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF NORMAL. It's been a loooong time since I've had this much fun planning a run!
I'm struggling a bit with my Asics plan It's flippin' hard work. This week it's two 7ks and a 10k I have a sore knee and hip so cut today's 7k down to 5 and have an appointment booked with the chiropractor tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Thanks, Tomas, she will hopefully put everything back into place and all will be well again I usually go twice a year and I'm a bit overdue because of travelling, and long flights on uncomfortable plane seats really don't help!
Thank you, but in this case I don't think it's my shoes because they were fitted in March and I have done about 160k in them.
I have one leg slightly longer than the other so a tilted pelvis, plus have fallen off countless horses so my lower back is not in the best of shape! I go to the chiropractor every six months for a checkup or more if I have a specific problem. I'm overdue because I was away for my last appointment - oops
First run after this weekend's St. George's 10 mile, and it was good to see that I can still run more than a mile before I have to stop. It was wonderful to cool down in the sea at the end of my run.
Starting to put together my marathon training plan for November - not sure yet how I am going to incorporate the fact we will be away for the whole of October!
My myasics plan readjusted itself because I was running faster than it expected so now my goal is a HM in 2:04:05.
But to achieve this, the app recommends running the HM at a constant pace i.e. 5.49min/km which I just to do not see happening at all, not least because I'll be running alongside 25,000 other people. So I'll aim for negative splits I reckon.
But overall I like MyAsics! It's very gratifying to see I've run 59k since the beginning of July. I did a fast 8k in 47 min exactly, ouch ouch, not much fun at all but it's good to feel challenged I guess...
I'm probably going to drop this week's long run. Have planned a bit wrong, so I've run three times already this week, as well as one strength training session, and will be doing my first parkrun tomorrow. A lie-in past 6:30 would be nice... On the other hand, the noisy seagulls outside my window are waking me at 5:30.
