Hi everybody,

Please feel free to share your runs here and chat about how it's all going,

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If youre a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week,

Juju, RFC and Pops

On Saturday I managed to beat my nearly two year old HM PB by just over two minutes. I was chuffed!

This week is R&R-week for me. Reducing mileage by about 30% and dropping from 5 runs to only 3 this week. My legs (and Achilles tendon in particular) are smiling just from thinking about it.

No. I also don't know how a tendon can smile. Amazing the stuff we learn on t'internet!

wow that is so good... you must be delighted ( I know I would be on cloud nine!!)

I am having some time 'resting' ( just 1 slow mile a day to keep me moving) for a slightly dicky ankle...I am going to see a sports osteopath as I have been hoping it would go but 4 months later its still there :(

Well, if it hasn't gone away by itself after 4 months, it's unlikely to do so. So good decision to go to a specialist for assistance. I hope he/she can find a solution; niggles can totally ruin the pleasure of running!

so very true....

Good luck with your osteopath.

Well done Tomas! Enjoy your rest

Sorry to hear about your dicky ankle Ju! Hope you can sort it sharpish. Meanwhile enjoy short runs. They will be refreshing after all the long hard slog

I ticked off another race yesterday and next up is a 10km race up to the front door of our local stately pile. 10km it feels like 20! 🙄 It was boiling hot last year with not a breath of wind, so lots of walking

Entered our local HM which is end of sept I think. Marathon training continues as well

I'very definitely been lacking in the mono department recently. I rested from running after my fall to give my knee time to recover and the break from running has just left me grumpy! I'very started to ease myself back into things using the guardian beginners app, but I really need to start getting out every day again. So, have signed up for a 10k beat the tide run next week (which I plan to run/walk). Hoping this gets me back on track. :)

Tomas, congrats! Sounds as if you are where we are aiming to be :)

Ju-Ju, I empathise! Hope visit to physio goes well and sorts out your issues!

Happy running all

Thankyou and your 10k sounds fun, I hope the knee behaves...

Glad you're getting back into the running, and hope the knee has been grateful for the time you've given it. Nothing like signing up for a race to keep the motivation high. Hope it goes well (and in particular that you do beat the tide rather than drown ;-) )

I am attempting to taper to get a sub 50 10k this weekend. I've missed it by less than a minute a few times now (I think) because I haven't tapered properly and done a ten mile run a few days before. Tapering certainly messes with my head though!! Once the 10k is done I'm back on with my marathon training...

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Marathon in reply toHillrunner2201

brilliant, and I so hope you get that sub 50... please do let us know....

Thank you 😊 Fingers crossed it won't be too hot!

Tomas profile image

Sub 50, that sounds like a great target. I hope the tapering goes well without too much stress over it, and looking forward to hear how the 10k went!

Thanks 😊 The tapering isn't too bad this time as I feel like I'm ready for a bit of a rest.

I did my aquathlon on Wednesday, it was pretty hard, and all quite disorienting, but there was great support from the marshals. I particularly liked running out from the pool to the prom, I felt really fresh and bouncy at that point - although I got pretty puffed and I'd had to let about 5 people pass me in the pool :) I saw a video of me running in just swimming cozzie and t-shirt - not a great look! Still, it was a lot of fun. 200 metres swimming and a 3k run, and I did it in 21 minutes something, which I am quite pleased with :D

Also did parkrun tourism at Preston Park, which was really lovely. I'm scoping out my route for my charity mega-parkrun, seems good so far, except I lost my GPS at the park, annoying. I want to be able to show my charity run on Relive. Anyway. I jogged home afterwards accompanied by a bottle of chocolate milk, and a popcorn salted caramel eclair I got from another parkrun I passed on my way (they were having a cake sale). Only slight indigestion, and good practice for the ultra marathon!

Yay, that aquathlon sounds like great fun, and excellent time. Well done Abi!

Congratulations on your aquathlon! Now why can't they do cake sales here in Norway?

roseabi profile image

You need to set a trend :)

I was thinking about doing an energy and protein bar sale...

Luckily I'm a keen baker. I've been toying with starting a running club where we eat cake afterwards.

I seem to be getting back into my running form at last. I managed all my four runs last week. This week has got off to a good start with a 13K run this morning. Unfortunately I hadn't planned my route well enough, so the last kilometer was up a fairly steep hill.

This weekend I finally made time to work on my first article for that running magazine. I submitted a first try about a month ago, and got useful but challenging feedback. I hope this new version is closer to what they want. I also organized a little photo session on Sunday. I ran down to the beach where hubby and daughter met me and took lots of shots. I hope some of them are good enough. My legs and arms look all wobbly, but I guess that's part of the charm of an article series for normal people.
