2. I'll have to wait to hit my sub-25 minute 5K goal (drat! Oh well, maybe I can still do it this year...)
3. You can never have too many pink sequins
Got my third medal this weekend (Go GIRL!), so the quest for 'more bling than last year' is going to plan. Also have been getting more sea swims in - frankly, in weather like this what else is there to do?
EDIT: I just read this article about new running adventures, and it's cool π
Congratulations with the bling, 3 so far in the year, that's really good going. And even if you were aiming for sub-25, 25:39 is still a very good time. So congrats with that as well!
Open water swimming sounds just perfect in weather like this. Enjoy it while the summer lasts
Yes thank you. Just plodding along getting my distance back up to where I want it to be. My cunning plan (!) is to do about 30 miles/week for the rest of the year, so that when marathon training begins again I'll have a good base and already be used to a fair mileage, so the training won'tt feel so hard. So far it's just an ambition though, so let's see how it all goes *lol*
1. Wetsuit in this weather? yes they tight help's you glide through the water like a seal. I got my wetsuit on this weekend too and went for a dip in the local swimming lake it was wonderful!
2. why would you want to run fast in this heat, wait for a cool day! your get it.
3. errrr
bling is always great! i already have twice as many as i got last year.
Swimming lake sounds lovely. I made the mistake yesterday of taking the wetsuit down to the beach and putting it on after lying in the sun for about an hour - cor blimey that was difficult!!
I guess with that much bling you don't need the pink sequins, huh Ben?
yea it was very lovely, but laying in the sun for an hour wold make it hard to get on! but you live and learn. I will do a sea swim one day, maybe next time i am down in Eastbourne after i have cycled there.
haha too right! just a shame none of the medals are pink.
I braved the sea in just my swimming cozzie today, and even though it seemed not so cold at first, I still got those palpitations when it hit chest level! We do love an adventure
Men swim off the corniche down in the city, but never women.
Women go to the "beach" at every opportunity in the summer, paying Β£20-30 for the day. But the "beach" is a pool with sun loungers populated by sophisticated women in dinky bikinis. Not my scene at all, so I'm not too worried that it's out of my league price-wise.
Great time roseabi, and thanks for the link. Running does feel like a bit of an adventure sometimes. It's amazing what we set ourselves to do! I like the ideas about randomising your runs And pink sequins all the way, I have a few that I keep sewing on in bunches to my summer blouses, trying to emulate the vintage look, not sure if it doesn't just looks a bit mad though ππ₯
Ha ha awesome I must get some sequins for summer wear - perhaps even on the running gear? I do have one sequin dress, but it's most definitely for winter only.
I love the adventure of a long run, I'm looking forward to getting back to those later in the year - 5k just seems like an awful lot of effort, with no chance to admire the view
5k is a perfect distance for biting off different run sections each time though - your own personal relay perhaps - or parkrun tourism, a different course each week... My adventures at the moment are all up in Epping Forest. Approx 3.5k gets me up past the north circular and then it all gets much more wild. Have also considered getting the train out to Loughton or further and running all the way back. Now that would be an adventure
I happened upon parkrun during one of my marathon training longest runs earlier this year, and ran along with them for a little while. It was really nice just moseying at my long run pace and watching people around me, some really sprinting hard for the finish line. I would like to try and chill out like that when I'm doing parkrun proper, but somehow I always seem to get competitive
