Well, actually, I recovered surprisingly quickly - had a nice 4 km stroll the next morning and almost no problems walking up and down stairs. First run was a very gentle 4 km on the Wednesday, repeated Thursday (sore after that), and Saturday I inserted 10 minutes speed work into a gentle 6 km.
I've got four weeks left from now until the Humber Half at the end of June, so my weekly longer runs will be 6 km (tick), 9 km, 12 km, 16 km and 21 km (the Humber Half). By then I expect to be up to 45-50 km/week, and I hope to have the self discipline to maintain that as regular volume for the rest of the year. Doing so so would make a great base for next winter's training for a spring marathon.
I went on a nice 8.5K run on Saturday evening and it went much better than my run last Wednesday, although my pace was a bit slower than I'd like, but it was nice running along the fjord. I always love going out for walks when the nights are long. When it's still light out at 10pm, I always want to be out there enjoyed it, so I suspect that my shorter runs will be evening runs for the next few weeks. We'll see... It would definitely help if I could focus on work during the days. Being self-employed, I have to work especially hard at this time of year to make up for the loss of income during my summer holiday.
Tomorrow's a sad day. After training with a PT for the past 3.5 years, tomorrow is my last day. I used to train with her twice a week, and dropped to once a week last year. But now I'm going to train all on my own - and save the money towards race entrance fees.
i have no real plans, I would like to eat lots of cake.
I am pooping myself with the prospect of tomorrow's 10k. I know the route and the horrible slow inclines x2.5 which I hope will be better with other people about. I have not run at all this week with total rest to get rid of this cold bug. My last run was Thursday 26th may for a hot/sweaty 6 miles. Not feeling100% but going to try to finish regardless of time.
