Sorry for the absence, I hope to come back and write more often. I got lost with the busy life, business travels (once or twice a month) and marathon preparation and I did not write anything in the last few months... and I am sorry for that!
I am in the final week of the tapering for the Belfast city Marathon which I should run on the 1st of May. I started the training program around Christmas and I have run just above 600 miles since. I have done a few long run (not as many as I wanted, but enough to have the miles in the legs. On Easter day I was in Luxemburg, a very hilly city. I went out after lunch (very big Italian lunch) to run my last (probably fourth in the year) long run. I did feel full, but...
I covered 22 miles in about 3 hours and 10 to 15 minutes!!!! (but I am pretty sure I was done... so the final 4 to 6 miles will be hard!!!)
I am very happy I did my final long 16 miles yesterday and now only reduction and taper to the marathon. I'll keep you posted and hopefully find the time to send a report soon
I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps. As some of you might remember, I was unable to run for a week due to a nasty cold and allergies. I kept meaning to go for a long run this weekend, and finally got myself out there on Sunday. This was after discovering that lots of rain and snow was forecast for Monday. I quickly realized that my running wasn't going well, not like a one-week break at all. I even felt my thighs go stiff on me really soon. This is something that almost never happens to me. To cap it all off I had stupidly decided to finally start using the Asics trainers I had bought for the season. I had forgotten that I need to break them in for a long time before they're any good. So my feet were feeling cramped as well and I ended up walking quite a bit towards the end. I managed to complete 7K, but not at any place I was too happy about, and I'm still stiff. And I have a 10K race on Saturday. It's the first major race of the season in Norway, and I was really hoping to get a PB, but am doubtful now.
and then the Beachy head marathon in October for my 2nd ever marathon, I heard it's on an undulating course. Which our very own roseabi completed last year.
