Weekly chat 27th March to the 2nd April πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

Hi everybody,

Please feel free to share your how your race training is going and chat about it here.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If youre a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week !

  • just a couple of slow 5k's for me this week, in preparation of just a normal half on Sunday where i am not going to try and get a pb or anything. just going to enjoy the nice sunny weather and Kent country side. so nothing to see here! (apart from the bling after)

  • That sounds like a great idea... enjoy the slow 5k's and the normal half!!!!

  • I ran 20 miles yesterday with a friend training for London marathon - that's my last long run now as my Paris marathon is on 9th April, so I am in full taper mode (and typically, the weather has turned beautiful!). So no bling for me this week, but hopefully there will be next!

  • well done!!!!!

  • Got in consolidating 9 miler in on Saturday morning. Half Marathon is on 21st April. Have done a 9 mile last week and week before. Weekend coming up we plan to do 11-12 miles, and then the tapering starts.

Starting to feel good about this event after what felt like a lack of running and an injury to my wife (running partner)

  • Tapering for Brighton, Plan says a 5K jog, and 8K & 12K at "race pace".

I seem to have yet another cold, boo. I may start to be a hermit so maybe I can avoid catching more before the big day. My husband will have to be in on that too though, hmmm...

I had a very nice time volunteering as a token-giver at parkrun on Saturday, therefore am in love with parkrun at the moment so I may go and run on Saturday in lieu of 8K "race pace". And not go near anybody for fear of virus attack :)

  • Tapering sounds like bliss! Enjoy your tapers folks. Lull before the storm sorta thing.

I have just 2 slow short runs left to put my old plan to bed before embarking on my brand new one (just printed it off, the ink is still wet). Three races in the offing. Exciting times

  • I did a 12 miler on Saturday followed by a nice steady 5k on Sunday on a truly beautiful morning. Got up a bit late this morning though after trying to adjust to the clocks changing and did nearly 6 miles but it felt tough and much longer than that in my half asleep state!! I have a hm in a couple of weeks so will start to taper now.

  • My first race is a month off, so just regular training for me: two interval sessions and a 14K long run. I ran a decent 13K on Sunday, and chose a route that was uphill for most of the second half, so there was some walking involved. My thinking is that this will make racing on the flat seem much easier and definitely faster. I plan to alternate my long runs between this route and the flat route along the fjord.
