I have wet AMD in the right eye and been on Vabysmo for the last 6 injections with some good progress and all most at a stable point. Pictures still show very small amount of fluid that needs to stop. Doctor wants to try a new approved FDA med called Ranibizumab on the next treatment, has anyone heard of this new med or using this for their treatment of Wet AMD ?
I have done some research on it but have not found anyone having injections, thought I would do some fishing here.
Thanks

it seems to work for me. I have macular oedema in both eyes. The left eye has cleared up nicely but the right eye is worse possibly because of the cataract op and vitrectomy a week after. My opthamologist said it could be either the diabetic macular oedema or the oedema from the op, no way of telling. However I had not had an Eylea injection in that eye for about 5 months due to the problems of the cataract op
Good luck!! hope they start your injections in the other eye soon I had a macula oedema in my right eye during covid. Take care. My name is Jayne also.
it’s not new, its been around quite a while and is used regularly in the U.K. I had wet amd in my right eye which was successfully treated with this. After about 6 injections it cleared completely and I know have 20/20 vision in that eye (with contact lens or glasses).
Glad that Faricimab has had some positives for you. I am looking forward to trialling it when the funding comes through for those with DMO st my hospital. I tried Lucentis for my DMO back in 2013.
Hello rigdog52, am not familiar with the med you mention, i have wet macular degeneration in the right eye, and have had great success sith Eyelea, but of course we all react differently, we can only be guided by our consultants and it is good that they are trying alternatives which may help. Good luck.
it is a new treatment which is expected to extend time between injections for nbetween 8 to 12 weeks depending on individual responses. I have been asking for it but so far no response from my hospital in Scotland. I understand it is pretty successful with only a low percentage increase of possible inflammation. It has been passed for use in uk which is usually pretty strict but not yet generally available. If I have my facts wrong I’m sure someone will put you straight. This is an excellent site for accessing information. Welcome.
rigdoog has already tried Vabysmo which is relatively new. The treatment he is asking about is Ranibizumab (Lucentis) which is not new and has been successfully used for many years.
I was on Lucentis for one year and then transferred to eylea which seems to have been effective for two years so far. Injection time for left eye now stretched from 6 to 10 weeks. Hope that is helpful.
