I currently still have quite blurred vision in my left eye following a sequence of 10 Lucentis injections during 2021. I am now in a stable / 'watching brief' phase of 6 week visits to the eye clinic. (My wet AMD has significantly reduced / disappeared).
When I finished my sequence of injections, my vision was clear - but now, I have quite troublesome blurring. This has 'come on' over the past 2 months or so and is significantly impacting on day to day activities (driving, computer work, watching TV etc.)
My own optician has indicated that they can see 'scarring' in the region of the 'wet AMD' - apparent as a very faint white patch on the laser scan.
But at my two previous eye clinic visits, the nurse practitioners didn't seem unduly worried as I can still get to 'third from bottom' on the eye chart.
And I was unable to to see an ophthalmologist / consultant on either of my last two visits to discuss further.
Is anyone able to comment / advise on whether 'scarring' as a result of wet AMD (and treatment) can, in itself, be treated?

dear fuzzbox, I too have blurring in my right eye and fractured vision. It was suggested this was due to scarring although this eye has only been wet for a year and only gets injected every three months. The left eye has been wet and injected six weekly or over three years and has better vision. Both eyes have cataract ops. So, can’t answer your question but would be really interested if anyone else can. I suspect very painful cataract op on R eye was the initial cause. All the best to you.
I too have scarring in my right eye following bleeding - was told that there's nothing that can be done but the eye is stable so I'm thankful for that!
Fuzzbox,When I mentioned to my opthalmologist about how vision was very blurry over my limited remaining visio in my right eye, she said "it's a build up of fluid at the back of the eye that hasn't drained away yet".
From what I asked of my optician (who seems to give me more information), this fluid build up can come and go, the opthalmologists are not concerned about it as it will drain away, it's just a nuisance coping while everything is blurry.
Please bear in mind though this is what I was told and may not apply to everyone else. You are allowed to phone the hospital or eye clinic and ask to speak with a Staff nurse if it's causing you a lot of problems.
During periods of stability, when no injections are needed, it is important that you check an Amsler grid at least once a week. If you notice any sudden changes in your vision, then you need to contact your ophthalmologist via their secretary as soon as possible, in case another rapid injection is needed, i.e. in case your eye is no longer stable. It is important not to leave it until your next monitoring visit to report it.
Unfortunately currently scarring cannot be reversed.
