I’m curious if anybody has ever tried horse chestnut for CSR? Of course I will be talking with my doctor about this first but I did get into a deep conversation with a person who has suffered from CSR for 10 1/2 years. ..And said that outside of having laser surgery on his bleeds this has given him some positive results he has had far less bleeds in his eyes and he has been taking it for 2 years. I know that everybody’s physiology is different and your body will respond possibly differently but the part of horse chestnut that aids in this disease helps to stop leaks in varicose vein‘s and helps to strengthen the walls of blood vessels and capillaries.

Aescin For helping CSR
Do you mean as in eating horse chestnuts daily or some kind of horse chestnut supplement like an oil or something? I've never heard of this before.
Chestnut supplement. You can see a lot of them online there is scientific research and peer reviewed articles about it helping with varicose vein and strengthening capillary walls and stopping the pooling and leaking. There was one person on a forum that I read and had said he had the best luck with that as a supplement outside of treatments.
I did order some of the supplement I see my ophthalmologist Monday I will speak with him about it and then I will hopefully start a regimen and I will check back if I see some noticeable improvement within the coming months. As a matter of fact if I use or try anything that I have success with I will share with anyone of my CSR compadres. We will beat this thing dammit!!!!
Dear T109,
I have checked with our research department and they have said they can find no evidence that links horse chestnut as a potential benefit in treating CSR .
Historically, horse chestnut seed extract was used for joint pain, bladder and gastrointestinal problems, fever, leg cramps, and other conditions and is still sold in homeopathy remedies for vascular conditions. It would be best to check with your ophthalmologist before continued use.
Kind regards,
Carol
Absolutely! And thank you. I am going to talk to him about it. The science behind it seems promising it strengthens capillary walls epithelial walls and arteries (The main premise being that it stops pooling and leaks) I’m curious as if that would help with some of the weakening of the capillaries and vessels within the layers of the retina? AESCIN primary compound in horse chestnut from what I have read and people that have used it is the main compound that helps. Here is a decent article. That talks about what it is. CSR is not as well-known as varicose veins I’m curious as to if that’s the reason why it’s not utilized at the moment enough for people to recommend it.
I’ll see what my retina specialist says.
