I was diagnosed with MD in my right eye 38 yrs ago at the age of 30. I learned to live with it as I didn’t want my vision affected by laser treatments. In the 90’s, I was told it was actually CSR. In April of this year, one day after I had my 2nd Phizer vaccine, the vision in my left eye was gone and is now worse than my right eye. Things are essentially unrecognizable. Unfortunately, that eye compensated for my decades of problems with the right eye. My Opthamologist diagnosed it as dry CSR but I am seeing another specialist @ CCF to run more tests this week. Working is difficult as faces, writing,....are severely distorted and driving is a nightmare. I was hesitant to get my 2nd vaccine after reading the many concerns of possible vision problems ...too bad I didn’t trust my gut because now I’m paying the price.
On another note, I had a serious reaction a day after the first vaccine too. Out of the blue, I started experiencing excruciating lower back and leg pain that lasted over a month. I could only get around with the use a cane. Then a trip to the ER and many days throughout the month of missing work. I saw a Neurologist and all was good but he did say that there are numerous reports of others who experienced what I did from this experimental vaccine. The vaccine and any pre existing inflammation in the body, fight each other causing the extreme pain.
Just thought I’d tell my story after reading so many of us going through the same thing.

I must have missed where there was a concern with the vaccines and eye problems I received two doses of Pfizer and am now worried seems like my eyes have changed I just thought becausei close to next set of injections
.My change in vision was like turning off the light switch after my second dose of Phizer and it is only getting worse.I hope you’re eyes haven’t been affected by it.
Central Serous Retinopathy...like Macular Degeneration. Fluid behind the retina with the center of vision blocked by a dark spot. Symptoms are distortion, blurred vision, not being able to decipher letters,...
I think it would be good to stop driving till this is sorted out. I had no issue with either Pfizer vaccine myself but interesting that perhaps you have. Have you somewhere you can report your issues with it? Are you in the US?
I only drive in my town where everything is familiar so at this time I do okay. Both of my physicians have reported my symptoms related to the vaccine.
I believe one should only drive when they vision is very good not just ‘ good enough’ in the UK we may be more strict. You have to have vision of a particular standard to be cleared to drive.
I experienced similar eye distortions in one eye (though nothing to do with Vaccine) two years ago. It came up as a deepening distortion. My local hospital diagnosed it as a retinal bump (a bit like CSR ?) to do with MMD and it was awful, I felt sick most of the time and distortions were horrible and all they could offer was buying more specs. However.....turned out I had a bleed on the back of the eye too small for detection at that point within my local hospital but at a 6 week review the vision had dropped massively. There was then quite a hurry to get avastin injected (within a day) which I then had monthly for three months. Vision was restored and although not quite as it was before this started, I feel very lucky. I am almost two years in with no more bleeding.
So Katt it turned out that MMD is quite tricky to diagnose in comparison to wet MD. Might this fit for you, if so could you ask for an early review?
Wow... how awful! Glad the help you received worked. I have to say that my Opthamologist was puzzled, especially after learning that it happen after my second vaccine. And with that, I have an appointment on 6-4 with one of the Cleveland Clinic’s premier retinal specialist to see if he can sort it out. Thank you so much for you insight regarding your unfortunate situation. I will keep in in mind for Friday’s visit.
It turns out that I have a macular hole and surgery to repair it is on Monday. The worst part will be the recovery in a ‘face down’ position for 7 days to weeks depending on how diligent I am. .It’s stressful just thinking about how I can continuously accomplish this but my recovery depends on me so I have no other choice but to do my best. The Mayo Clinic has been using a new technique with much success, that doesn’t require FD positioning which relieves the burden of stress and anxiety for the patient. Wish the Cleveland Clinic did!!!🤣
I didn’t have any problems with my AMD after pfizer vaccine, or any side effects just a sore arm for a while. No change in my vision, thank goodness. Hoping that yours will improve.
HI Kat and welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your eye, that really is very upsetting. I understand how difficult working must be for you and hope that the further tests your other specialist is running this week will be able to throw some light on what has and is going on and hopefully do something to help you. I do, however, have to agree with tallyho about stopping driving as even though you know the area well as it's your home town, it's safer for you and others if you don't drive until this problem is sorted out. I hope all goes well for you and please let us now how you get on. All the best. x
My seeing to drive is not that bad. I haven’t driven at night for years and daytime driving is really only difficult when I look at signs which is something I really don’t need to do. I appreciate your concern but I’m fine. If I weren’t , I wouldn’t do it.
Blimey katt10, So sorry to hear of your bad experience. Thanks for sharing. I’ve a bit more sympathy for refusers now. I had the Oxford jab and no aftereffects at all except for feeling a bit shivery that night. Also amazed at the many years you have had md jags. Do hope you get successful treatment. All the best.
It turns out that I have a macular hole and am having vitrectomy surgery on Monday. I’m not as concerned about the surgery as I am about the ‘face down’ recovery which could be for several weeks before I can resume an upright position.Very stressful as to how I will be able to take care of my animals,...
Mayo Clinic has a new technique that doesn’t require FD position. Too bad the Cleveland Clinic hasn’t gotten on board with this one. It would certainly take the stress and anxiety away for people.
Best of luck with the face down recovery. I've read about it, and it sounds difficult! Of course if it repairs your eyesight, TOTALLY worth it. Please let us know how it all goes 🤞
