So today I had another lucentis injection, pictures and finally saw my dr. The scans showed no leaking and sight test was good, I have brvo. He said I can go 8 weeks between injections now but then said he wants me to have laser treatment as a preventative measure for the future. I asked why and he just gave me a retinal occlusion leaflet. Did not seem to want to discuss further is this common? Something else for me to stress about, I do worry so much always regarding my eyes

Laser treatment
Good Morning MillieT,
About 20% of patients with RVO develop abnormal blood vessels that can bleed or increase pressure in the eye, leading to further loss of vision.
This can normally be prevented by laser treatment to stabilise and preserve the condition of the eye, but not improve vision.
What your ophthalmologist has suggested is normal and should help prevent any blood leakages in the future.
All the best,
Becky

Thanks for clearing that up Becky for me. I’m currently ok with vision luckily but didnt realise this. You have answered my concerns beautifully and put my mind at ease x
Hi millieT,I have brvo and laser was discussed with me by my doc. He told me it's a normal treatment but not right for everyone depending where any problem is in the eye as it can cause a small amount of damage itself.
For me, my problem is too close to the fovea he said and the laser damage would make my sight worse albeit stop it getting worse later from the brvo so he wanted to wait and continue with injections.
I'm expecting him to review the decision at some point if the injections stop working (they do now but only temporarily ).
Thanks for your reply. I would love to stop the injections as always get dreadful after pain from them but he didn’t mention that. Our sight is such a concern always, love this forum for reaching out to people that actually know what everyone is experiencing.
