Eylea Side Effects?

Following 2 years of Lucentis , I was advised to change to Eylea . After 3 injections of Eylea, visual distortion has progressively increased . Faces are unclear and distorted on TV. Written words have become very difficult with wavy lines, moving and missing letters. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Advice welcome.

No, I haven’t had this problem after changing from Lucentis to Eylea and it has helped my vision to improve. You need to speak to your eye clinic I would say

Hi Firestorm. How long in between each injection have you had to wait? Regardless of the answer though, I agree with Koalajane in that you need to speak to your eye clinic. Do you have their number? x

Hi Springcross,

Thanks for your reply. Injections were 6 weeks apart.

Have expressed my concern to my Senior Consultant (top Dog) who says that the injections are have dried the blood vessels well and is adamant that I am receiving the best treatment. He seems unable to accept that there may be side effects from Eylea, So I thought I would see if anybody else has had a similar experience. In the meantime I have asked to be switched back to Lucentis to see if this helps to reduce my ongoing problem.

Hello Firestorm,

Why did the ophthalmologist advise that you change from Lucentis to Eylea? Was it because the Lucentis was no longer as effective at holding the eye, so that they suggested moving to Eylea, in case this provoked a more positive response?

As stated below, it would be worth contacting your ophthalmologist via their secretary with your questions and concerns.

Kind regards,

Sadly it sounds like your disease is progressing. Leakage of fluid and edema cause distortion. Eyelea is considered to be a more effective medication than lucentis I believe. Having the injections more frequently might help. I am now having them every 3 weeks. Here in the USA a OCT scan is done at each retina specialist visit to compare to the last visits. Please be assertive in obtaining the best care possible to protect your remaining vision.

Do your research on Eylea adverse eventS as some sites note that there could be allergic reaction in certain people.

Thank you all for Caring comments, I am still struggling with distorted vision, consultant osays eylea has worked in drying the blood vessels. Which is good but is no good for my vision.. I have requested to go back to Lucentis, hoping for clearer sight!
