Is it safe to fly with wet AMD?

Recently I had another Eylea shot and exam. The doctor (a doctor new to me) said there was leakage of blood, and I will have to come back in only 4 weeks. I had been on an 8 week schedule for shots. Meanwhile, I an scheduled to fly across the country with my wife, as a brother in law is dying, and we want to see him while we can.

Now I am wondering if the flight across the country (USA) will cause more bleeding in my eye. I live at 7 thousand feet above sea level anyway (Taos). And I understand that the pressurized cabins in large passenger aircraft provide the availability of oxygen equivalent to 8 thousand feet above sea level (if that is even relevant). I also have COPD, to make matters worse. But my destination is at sea level, and of course that will be where my return flight will originate.

I will call a local eye doctor and ask his opinion. I should have thought of this when I received the shot. But my mind was on other things! The eye surgeons who give the shots are always unavailable for questions except in the very few minutes they are with a patient to administer the shot. The place where I get the shots is very efficient, and very impersonal.

Has anyone had experience with this question?

I am getting Eylea injection for Wet MD and I have flown several time in the past year with no adverse affects. My Retina Specialist said there is no problem with flying.

I have flown many times since injections. I was advised not to fly within 5 days of an injection never had a problem.

The advice is given incase there are issues after the injection. They would be more likely within that time window.

Helo Jihm,I travelled to Australia 2 days after injection . I had no problems . Optician told me to use eye drops for dry eye as the cornea can dry out very quickly. Told to put them in each eye every hour , which I did . Seemingly the air conditioning in planes is bad for eyes

Hope this is of some help.
