I am dentally as well as visually challenged, and find it hard to chew kale, salad etc. I thought I'd try green smoothies as a substitute for lutein containing veg. Can anyone recommend the best juice for this? and dosage? I am also diabetic, so very sweet smoothies are out.

Hi Ann, I am also 'dentally challenged'! I use a nutribullet, and I put kale, spinach, spring beet greens, avocados, omega's, and fibre into them. I am also a kidney stone former - and those plants are high-oxalate - but I decided my eye health took priority.
I was told we can’t get enough lutein from a normal diet so I supplement with a blueberry based eye health tablet every day. Some eye docs are a bit sceptical about this but as my first one recommended the super expensive macushield gold I have since found the cheaper alternative.
Make sure that you drink the smoothies straight away after preparation as opposed to storing them first. This avoids losing any of the nutritional benefits.
