I have had chronic, bilateral Central Serous Retinopathy for over four years now with retinal atrophy in my right eye as a consequence. I also tend to measure quite high for eye pressures. I haven't received any treatment for either condition to date.
I have recently moved house and am now under a different hospital. My new consultant is going to recommend me for Photo Dynamic Therapy for my CSR and she has also given me Latanoprost to reduce my pressures as she is worried about a glaucoma risk.
One of the side effects of Latanoprost is listed as macular edema and I have found a couple of studies online which cite Latanoprost as a cause of CSR in specific cases.
I am due to use the Latanoprost for the next three weeks until I am seen by the glaucoma clinic.
I am very concerned that the Latanoprost will exacerbate the CSR further.
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of using Latanoprost whilst having CSR?

Don't know about lanaprost but I use timolol drops which also have side effects in the eye (&body) but macular oedema isn't listed as one of them. Perhaps you could ask your doc if it would be a suitable alternative for you?
I don’t have CSR but do use Latanoprost for pressure, agreed by both my macular and glaucoma consultants. The Patient Information Leaflet mentions macular oedema as a rare side effect less than 1 in 1000 but, which to me is the important thing, does not mention any form of macular or retinal disease as a contraindication, suggesting it’s considered ok to use in such patients
The trouble is, all medications have side effects, if it’s strong enough to do something useful, it’s strong enough to have an adverse effect too
